Peter couldn't help but grin from ear to ear as he watched the houses in Edith Hills sell like hotcakes. Despite its rocky past, the development had turned into a smashing success. By the time they were working on the fifth floor, every single unit had been snapped up, and Peter was practically rolling in cash.
Ronan had made a special trip to Birchwood, mainly because of the sales boom.
He had two things on his agenda: first, to update Peter on the sales, and second, to bring Jayson back home since the kid was still staying with the Dustins.
Peter insisted on treating Ronan and Emerson to dinner.
"You know, I've heard some bigwig from Millstone might be looking to buy a place here. Is that true?" Peter asked, fishing for information.
Ronan chuckled lightly, "Yeah, there's been talk, but who knows if they'll actually buy anything. It's probably just a bit of hype."
"But still, having a connection like that is pretty impressive," Peter noted.
To Ronan, it was all small potatoes. He hadn't had any direct dealings with this so-called bigwig, yet the man had bought a property. Where others saw a mountain, Ronan saw a molehill. Even his biological father, Olen, had buckled under similar pressure years ago, ending up with a nervous breakdown that sent him abroad.
Ronan brought Jayson back home with him.
As they arrived, so did Cordelia.
Jayson, both shy and hopeful, asked, "Uncle Ronan, can I call you dad from now on?"
Ronan's response was firm, "Yes, but from now on, I'm the only dad you've got. No calling anyone else mom or dad, that includes Petra and your Aunt Tabitha. Can you do that?"
Jayson nodded timidly, "Yes."
"And no matter what happens, you've got to protect your brother, got it?" Ronan added, referring to Callum.
