Suddenly, the room was quiet.
Slowly turning around, Tessa bit her lip as she looked toward the spot where Matthew had been sitting.
She saw Matthew standing there, seemingly unharmed, while a hooded man lay on the floor.
Instantly, Tessa was shocked beyond measure.
The man had been taken down. When did Matthew become so powerful?
Matthew bent over and picked up the fallen bone crusher from the couch. He then stepped over the dead body and walked up to Jeffrey.
Like a demon from hell, he approached Jeffrey step by step.
The bone crusher in his hand gleamed menacingly under the light.
Terrified, Jeffrey's face turned pale as he retreated. "You… What are you going to do?"
Matthew's voice was filled with a frosty intent to kill as he answered, "Kill you!"
Jeffrey stumbled and backed into a wall. "You… Do you know what'll happen if you kill me? You'll regret it! You can't bear the consequences of killing me!"
Matthew replied coldly, "You don't have to worry about those matters when you're dead."
The murderous air emanating from Matthew was terrifying, but the bone crusher in his hand was even more terrifying.
The one-inch thick blade looked like a torture device that instilled fear in anyone who saw it.
Jeffrey's legs went weak, and he propped himself up against the wall while yelling like a madman, "You can't kill me! You have no idea what kind of power the Smith family has. Our wealth and background are beyond your imagination!
"If you so much as lay a finger on me, you'll die a horrible death!"
A cold glint flashed in Matthew's eyes, and the bone crusher descended.
The one-inch-thick blade penetrated Jeffrey's thigh.
The excruciating sound of a thigh bone breaking was heard.
Jeffrey clutched his broken leg, screaming out in agony like a pig being slaughtered. "My leg! My leg is broken! Urgh, it hurts like hell!"
Beside him, Tessa's face was pale, and her lips were trembling—but she couldn't find it in herself to utter a word.
She realized she had been wrong all along. When Matthew used to get angry, he would raise his hand but never actually strike.
