Bertha was at her wits’ end. She had tried every trick in the book to wake up her blissfully ignorant husband. “Fine! I wash my hands of you! Go ahead and save your precious princess! Give me back my daughter!”

With that, she swooped her daughter out of Thaddeus’ arms and stormed out of the elevator as soon as the doors slid open.

Thaddeus hastened to catch up with her. “Bertha! What do you want me to do? I can’t just abandon my own daughter!”

Bertha took a deep breath as disappointment clouded her face. “Go ahead and take care of your golden girl. Lea and I won’t be part of this mess. From now on, you take the high road, and I'll take the low road. Let Sophia reap what she sows. You can deal with her misdeeds alone!"

Thaddeus was helpless. "Bertha, Sophia isn't as bad as you make her out to be."
