Chapter 288
Involved in a crime?
Ellinor looked dazed and confused upon hearing this
Seeing this. Theo asked, “What case are we talking about?”
The cops only noticed Theo in the room, looking slightly startled
“Oh? Mr. Blanchet, do you know Ellinor too?”
Theo answered thoughtfully. “Yes, what happened to her?”
Standing beside Theo, Patricia looked at the police as if recalling a terrifying experience from last night. She instinctively moved closer to Theo for protection with a worried expression on her face
‘Officer, what crime is Ellinor suspected of? Are you sure you got it right? Ellinor is a good person!”
Seeing Patricia’s reaction, the cop was even more surprised, “Ms. Howard, you’re here too! Looks like you all know Ellinor?”
Considering the victim and her family’s right to know, the cop spilled the beans.
“Mr. Blanchel, here’s the deal….
We’ve caught the guy who tried to assault Ms. Howard yesterday
Under our tough questioning, the suspect finally came clean. He claimed Ellinor gave him ten grand to harm Ms. Howard, no matter what”
“What‘‘ Patricia’s thermos food jar dropped to the floor, hot soup splashing out and nearly scalding her foot….
Theo reacted quickly pulling her away in time to avoid any burns.
Patricia was shocked, shaking her head in disbelief, “Impossible… Ellinor is my friend, she wouldn’t hurt me….”
The cop, who had seen the dark side of human nature, sighed and said to Patricia, “Ms. Howard, you can’t judge a book by its cover. Be careful whom you befriend in the future.”
“How could this be… Patricia seemed to have taken a heavy blow, her body swaying. She held Theo’s arm tightly, “How could this happen? Ellinor is a good person, she wouldn’t hurt me, right?”
Theo looked at Patricia, then turned to look at Ellinor.
Ellinor sat on the hospital bed, her expression calm, her eyes laced with irony…
Well, here we go again!
She knew this wouldn’t be the end of it.
They say there’s no peace in a wealthy family, always full of intrigue and backstabbing. Those words sure rang true.
Theo’s eyes lingered on Ellinor for a moment before he turned to the police, “You better have evidence to prove she’s guilty, or you can’t take her from the hospital.”
