The Kiss that Sparked it All novel Chapter 474

Ellinor wasn't surprised that Balfour would believe Haillie, but she calmly stated her side of the story.

"Here's the deal, Mr. Howard. About an hour ago, Ms. Howard and Haillie told me they were going shopping and asked me to babysit.

Despite my repeated refusals, I ended up having to watch Ms. Howard's kid sleep. I never laid a finger on that child.

As for the bruises on him, I have no idea where they came from."

After hearing Ellinor's words, Patricia sobbed even harder in Balfour's arms and blamed herself. "Bro, it's my fault. I shouldn't have left my child with your secretary. I never thought that your secretary would do this to my child."

Haillie angrily said, "Balfour, don't fall for Ellinor's excuses! When we got back, the child was scared, crying and trying to run away. If we had come back a bit later, who knows what Ellinor would have done to him? I suggest we call the police. Child abuse is a serious crime!"

Balfour glanced at Haillie but didn't take her advice. He turned his gaze back to Ellinor, "Do you have any proof that you didn't hurt the child?"

Patricia, holding her child, turned her face away from her brother's embrace while sobbing. "Ellinor, why... why did you do this to my child?"

Haillie also questioned, "Ellinor, is it because you’re jealous of the fact that the child belongs to Patricia and Theo and you decided to take it out on the child?"

Jealous? Ellinor chuckled, ignoring Haillie, and turned to the weeping Patricia to say, "Normally, when a mother sees her child hurt, her first reaction is to rush the child to the hospital and then find out who hurt the child! But it seems that Ms. Howard is more concerned with smearing me than dealing with her child's injuries!"

Patricia's eyes flickered with a hint of shame appearing on her face, "I'm not trying to smear anyone; I feel so bad about my child's injuries! Bro, call a doctor."
