Balfour gave Ellinor a sideways glance. He noticed her in just a cocktail dress and frowned, "Ms. Mendoza, where's your coat?"
Ellinor looked at her bare shoulders, suddenly realizing her coat was missing. Oh, crap!
Turned out she had lost it when she climbed out of the bathroom window into the next room.
Ever since she got pregnant, she was no longer as agile as before. This kind of blunder was not supposed to happen.
Now that the cat was out of the bag, she had to come up with an excuse, "I'm sorry, Mr. Howard. I accidentally got your coat dirty and left it downstairs. I'll compensate you; the finance department can deduct it from my salary."
Feeling like he nearly jumped the gun when he accused her, Balfour felt a bit embarrassed and waved it off, "No biggie, it's just a coat."
"Thank you, Mr. Howard." Ellinor let out a sigh of relief.
Patricia gritted her teeth on the side. That was the expensive, limited-edition coat she gifted Balfour.
He just shrugged off the gift she gave him for Ellinor? She totally underestimated Ellinor. Who knew she could have Balfour eating out of her hand.
"What's going on? Why is everyone gathered here? What happened?"
An elegant woman's voice rang out. Her voice was authoritative yet gentle and exuded a mature sophistication.
