Grace headed upstairs and was about to knock on Gary's door to bring Celeste to another room where she could sleep alone.
After taking a few steps forward, she remembered that Celeste had already returned to her room just a moment ago. Celeste couldn't have finished bathing so soon, even if she were to take a quick shower.
It would be a waste of time for Grace to knock on the door.
With that, she decided to head over later.
The first thing she had to do was to arrange a new room for Celeste.
Grace turned around and descended the stairs to look for the butler and ordered, "Butler, didn't I tell you to prepare a room for Celeste? Go ahead and tidy the room up. Put a fresh bedsheet and a duvet cover on."
The butler was taken aback before he inquired, "Madam, didn't you mention before that Miss Celeste and Master Gary could stay together?"
What the butler was trying to say was that it was inappropriate to separate Gary and Celeste.
Grace instantly replied, "Do whatever I tell you to do. Clean the room right this instant. I'll bring Celeste over later."
The butler nodded and left.
Grace then returned to her room to wash up.
When Gary returned to his room on the third floor, Celeste was taking a shower.
The sound of running water could be heard from the bathroom. It seemed that she was not done with showering yet.
Gary stood at the door, feeling inexplicably sentimental. Deep inside, he knew that Grace had already learned about Celeste's miscarriage.
The incident had stuck a thorn in both Celeste's and his heart.
He recalled the pain Celeste had gone through and felt sorrowful.
Standing at the door, he pondered for a while but eventually knocked on the door.
As the knock on the door could be heard, Celeste instantly tensed up and called out, "Who is it?"
"Celeste, it's me," Gary replied.
Celeste exhaled a sigh of relief, "I'll be done in a minute. Please wait."
Gary replied from the outside, "Why don't we take a shower together?"
After falling silent, Celeste checked if she had locked the door properly.
Gary chuckled, "I'm just kidding. Take your time. I'll wait."
Embarrassed, Celeste blushed furiously. After hesitating for a while, she continued to shower.
Soon after she finished her shower, she put on a bathrobe and opened the door. As soon as Celeste emerged from the bathroom, she saw Gary standing at the door with his head lowered to look at her. His gaze was deep-set and gentle.
Feeling somewhat uncomfortable, Celeste spoke, "You should take a shower now. It's important to take a ritualistic shower after coming back from a funeral home or cemetery to cleanse the bad luck away."
With his deep gaze still fixed on Celeste, Gary chuckled once more before asking, "Are you sure you don't want to take another shower? With me? Together?"
Celeste immediately shook her head.
"Hurry up. Well have to wash your clothes!"
Gary had no choice but to enter the bathroom in resentment as he was disappointed to not be able to shower with Celeste.
It seemed that he had to shower alone.
Celeste dried her hair with a hairdryer before proceeding to put on a fresh set of clothes.
Just as Celeste was about to wash her clothes, she heard a knock on the door. She froze for a moment before rushing to open the door.
As soon as she opened the door, she saw Grace standing at the door. She was a little surprised but then cracked into a smile, Aunt Smith?"
Grace smiled in return and asked gently, "Celeste, are you done washing up?"
"That's right," Celeste nodded, "Is there anything I can help you with?"
Grace went straight to the point, "Yes. Pack your stuff up and follow me to your room."
