"I can tell from your grin that you're overjoyed," said Claudia with a smile.

"Of course. Why wouldn't I be? This is the best news I've gotten all day!" Sylvia said excitedly. The sadness on her face was long-gone and replaced with smiles. Even her eyes were beaming with joy.

Claudia smiled. Although Sylvia was young, she could tell that Sylvia's feelings for Kendrix were deep and sincere.

She remembered how teary-eyed Sylvia was when she told Sylvia that she was Kendrix's girlfriend that afternoon at school.

Tears kept welling up in Sylvia's eyes, but she held them in stubbornly as she stared at Kendrix.

Claudia still felt sorry for hurting such an innocent girl who was in love. She could not forget how hurt Sylvia looked.

It had pained her to do so.

But now, she felt relieved.

However, she was still a little worried and said frankly, "You're only sixteen years old this year. I don't think you're at the age to know who is right for you. Maybe one day you'll meet someone you like more than Kendrix, and Kendrix would just be a passerby in your life."

"No, I won't." Sylvia shook her head and continued, "I'm sure of it. I like him a lot. I would never treat any other man the same, and I would never have feelings for them. He's the only one who touched my heart, and he'll be the last man I fall for."

"But you still have a long life ahead of you. How can you be sure you won't meet someone else?" Claudia smiled, but her tone was gentle yet solemn at the same. She was not joking around at all. "Although Kendrix is an outstanding man, there are still many more who are better than him. And how can you guarantee you won't have a change of heart? Even couples who have sworn to be together forever can end up breaking up."

Sylvia was stunned by her words. She wanted to say something, but she remained silent.

After pondering for a moment, she finally answered, "I get what you're trying to tell me. I can't guarantee that I won't have a change of heart, but I can promise that my conscience is clear."

Hearing that, Claudia was surprised. She looked at Sylvia's solemn expression and smiled.

"That's true. No one can guarantee they won't change their minds. All one can do is to make sure they have no regrets in their pursuit of happiness. I like your answer," said Claudia.

At least Sylvia was being sincere.

It was better than giving empty promises.

Sylvia replied, "It's fine. We have plenty of time to get to know each other."

Claudia sighed. "Alas! Although I don't mind an age gap, to have such a young cousin-in-law does make me a little uncomfortable."

"It doesn't matter. It's not like I'm your husband," Sylvia said.

"I don't mind marrying a man who's younger than me, but it's strange for me to have someone younger than me as my cousin-in-law," Claudie added.

"Hey!" Sylvia stared at Claudia, astonished by her weird mentality.

"Do you truly want a younger man as your husband?" Sylvia blinked, too stunned to say anything more. "How much younger?"

"I m okay with a gap of six years but not more than eight." Claudia pursed her lips and stroked her chin. It was as if her mind had already wandered somewhere else.

"That's shocking!" Sylvia exclaimed. "But why a younger man?"

"You don't understand, do you? I've done some research." Claudia paused to look at Sylvia's stunned expression before shaking her head. "Forget it. I can't tell you."

"Come on. How can you leave me hanging? I hate it when people do this. Explain now. What research have you done?" Sylvia's curiosity had been piqued, so how could she accept not hearing Claudia's reason?

Seeing her expectant look, Claudia asked, "Why are you so curious?"

"It's not curiosity. It's a desire for knowledge," Sylvia corrected her with a stern expression.

"Pfff!" Claudia could not hold back her laughter. "This is the first time someone has come up with such a reason. I know you're in for the gossip, but you're trying to cover it up. You're more thick-skinned than I am."

"So I think I'm more than qualified to be your cousin-in-law," Sylvia replied smoothly.

Claudia roared with laughter.
