Eliz stood there and watched in awe as Xander hugged Mariam to himself tightly. So many emotions ran through her and she couldn't tell what she was feeling right that moment.

Wasn't it supposed to be her? Doesn't she stand more chance than Mariam?

Come to think of it, her boobs are firmer than hers. She even gave herself to him, made her feelings known to him and he had the gut to choose her best friend as his mate.

Eliz's eyes sting with salty tears. They were burning so hard for trying to hold the tears in. She stood there rooted to the ground, her hands clenching and unclenching.

" You looked so beautiful," Xander said and hugged Mariam again. Eliz could tell the happiness in his voice. It was vivid even if he was turning his back against her.

The crowd roared and applause came from every angle, almost making Eliz deaf.

She watched as Xander held Mariam's hand and led her to the podium. He was gentle with her and Eliz's heart couldn't help but clenched.

" I have good news and bad news. Which do you want to hear first?" Xander asked, his hand wrapped intimately around Mariam's waist.

She looked down at her feet, avoiding the hurtful gaze of her friend who was looking at her from the crowd.

" The bad news" They chorused except one person, Eliz, and Xander nods his head.

" The bad news is that our water bodies have been polluted so no one should drink from the lake in the woods until a solution has been provided," Xander said and the subjects started murmuring amongst themselves.

Eliz fixed his gaze on his moving lips but none of his words were falling in her ear. All she could see was his moving lips and the memories of how they were wild the previous night.

" The good news is that," Xander stopped and smiled at Mariam lovingly before facing his subjects again.

" I found my mate, my lifetime partner" He announced and Eliz felt a pang on her chest. She bite on her lower lip and stormed out of the arena.

" That's all for today," Alpha Xander said and the subjects bowed their head before dispersing.

Mariam lifts her head but she couldn't find her. She was gone and a short sigh left her lips.

" Are you tired?" Xander asked and Mariam shook her head.

" I will take you to see my parents then," Xander said and before Mariam could reply, he held her hand and lead her to the pack house.

Packhouse

" Welcome Alpha" The servants bowed their heads and continued with their chores.

" Where are my parents?" Xander asked no one in particular.

" They're in the garden having coffee," One of the servants said and Xander led Mariam to the garden.

Walking into the garden, they saw the couples having coffee under the sunlight.

Xander went to his mother and whispered something in her ear. The squeal she let out was enough to tell Mariam that she was happy. This was the first time she was meeting the Luna and the Old Alpha and she couldn't help but felt nervous and excited at the same time.

" Come over here and give me a hug" Luna gestured at her, she hesitated before approaching and hugging her.

" She smelled of caramel," Mariam's wolf said in her head and she just smiled before breaking the hug.

" Now can you all tell me what's going on?" Alpha Lexus asked.

" Your son found his mate," Luna said and a wide smile spread across his face.

" Good good" The alpha nor his head in excitement.

" What's your name dear?" The Luna asked.
