A Journey from Bitterness to Truth (Matilda and Yvan) novel Chapter 799

Yvan frantically gestured for everyone to come closer after sifting through the debris they had been rummaging through moments before. Suddenly, his eyes narrowed with intensity. Beneath the charred remains of what appeared to be a steel framework, there was a massive industrial freezer!

At that moment, Yvan felt his heart leap into his throat, and everyone else was just as shocked. They hadn't expected to find such a large freezer buried underneath, its shell scorched red. They immediately sprang into action, some wielding crowbars, working from various angles to pry open the freezer door!

The moment the door was pried open, Yvan caught sight of Eugene cradling Logan.

It was almost like a miracle, this father-son connection. Logan was unconscious, still keeping up the rhythm of knocking, clutching a metal rod tightly in his hand, mechanically tapping against the freezer wall.

Though he had passed out, his body instinctively kept up the plea for help.

Tears instantly welled up in Yvan's eyes as he rushed to pull Logan out, his hands trembling. The others quickly helped to extract Eugene, who was curled up inside, and frantically started moving the survivors outside.

"Cyprian! We've found them! We found Logan and Eugene!" Declan shouted into the radio, breathless with urgency. "Get someone ready outside; they might be unconscious from carbon monoxide inhalation!"

Cyprian, on the outside, was overwhelmed with a mixture of shock and joy. They had found them, hopefully in time!

Cradling Logan like his most precious treasure, Yvan ran out. Behind him, a blaze roared, but the man didn’t look back. His silhouette, set against the backdrop of the inferno, was a heart-stopping sight.

Emerging from the flames, he was shrouded in a swirl of black smoke.

Cyprian bellowed, "They're out! Quick! They've made it!"

His voice was raw with emotion.
