Just when I thought he would come to my rescue and I had a chance for a better life, he just had to do this to me. Was I cursed to be treated badly by everybody?

My greatest fear had finally happened, my mate wanted nothing to do with me and my heart shattered into tiny pieces as a huge lump formed in my throat. I opened my mouth to speak, I wanted to beg him not to do this to me but he did not even give me a chance.

He literally walked out on me and that hurt more than anything, I just wanted to be happy. Was that too much to ask from the goddess?!

It was clear to me now that she loathed me but I was not going to let these people ruin my life for me. My 18th birthday has already been ruined by both my father and my so-called mate.

“He didn’t accept us, Alexis.” I told my wolf.

“I know.” she replied in a low tone, she didn’t say anything after that and I could feel my spirit weaken.

She was sad and I was devastated.

I had to come up with a plan to elope from my pack because there was no way that I was going to be sold as a commodity just because of my father’s selfish reasons. I could not even run to my mate because he already had somebody else in his life, so I would have to find another way out.

I have never liked the idea of becoming a rogue which was where I stayed back but at this point, I didn’t care anymore. I would rather be anything or anywhere other than here!

I had completely forgotten about the information that the servant passed to me as I was still fixed to the ground until my father came, dragging me out of my thoughts.

“What is up with the long face? Were you not informed that I sent for you?” his deep, stern voice questioned me.

He did not even let me respond to his question, “I don’t even care why it’s like that. Just fix your face. The nobles need to be pleased today!”

“Do not ruin my mood for me. This auction is very important, so be on your best behavior.” he ordered me and I slowly nodded my head.

“Now, put on a broad smile on that face of yours and prepare yourself to dance for the nobles before I start the auction,” he added.

I quickly obeyed him as my lips curved into a fake smile despite the fact that I was dying on the inside since my mate refused to claim me.

Could this day get any worse?!

The gamma announced the presence of the Alpha while I stood behind the curtains waiting for them to make a special announcement for me as well.

It was only this day that I could get such special treatment, the rest…. I have been treated like a slave in my own father’s pack.
