"There's no need to see me again," Matthew said coldly before abruptly ending the call.
On the other end, Eviette didn't expect Matthew to hang up so abruptly. Her heart tightened, and she immediately called back, only to hear a cold mechanical voice saying, "The user you are calling has turned off their phone. Please try again later..."
Unwilling to give up, she dialed a few more times, but the result was the same.
Meanwhile, in the hotel room, Matthew threw his phone onto the table in the living room, turned around, and went back to the bedroom, holding Veronica in his arms and going back to sleep.
The situation with Eviette arose because he had placed too much trust in her, but Veronica's actions had truly touched Matthew.
As he held her, feeling the woman's steady breathing, he compared it to that of a lazy kitten. A smile involuntarily curled up at the corner of his mouth, and he planted a kiss on her forehead.
The next day, everyone woke up early to freshen up and set off together to return to Bloomstead.
By the time they arrived in Bloomstead, it was already eleven in the morning. At Eleanor's suggestion, everyone went to the Imperial Court villa and had sushi at Matthew's house.
Except for Shirley, everyone was gathered together, creating a harmonious and joyful atmosphere. Due to Skyler's illness, he only drank some milk for dinner and didn't touch a drop of alcohol.
"Do you plan to stay here tonight or go back?"
After dinner, Miguel, Caleb, Thomas Ritter, and Troy were playing poker together. The others watched from the side while Matthew sat on the couch, accompanying Skyler.
He appeared relaxed and in a good mood, but his friends knew that he wasn't feeling well. However, they were concerned that he was too weak to sit for a long time, so they didn't insist on him joining the poker game.
Helplessly, Matthew had to stay with Skyler.
"We just finished dinner, and you're already trying to kick me out?"
