The whole process of changing the bandages was downright brutal!
Egbert watched in silence as the girl roughly changed his bandages and applied new ointment, and finally said in resignation, "Okay, you win. I'm sorry, alright?"
Eileen didn't even acknowledge his apology. After fastening his bandages tightly, she chucked the remaining bandage roll into the medicine box. She then plopped down onto the bed, saying, "You can leave now!"
Just as she finished speaking, she felt something uncomfortable under her. Reaching down, she pulled out a long tail from underneath her and tossed it aside before resettling herself.
Egbert eyed the pink tail that had been tossed aside, and couldn't help but burst into laughter again.
Eileen shouted, "And what exactly are you laughing at?"
The man waved his hands in surrender, saying softly, "Sorry, sorry."
Eileen was fuming. She stood up and shoved Egbert towards the door.
Egbert was pushed to the doorway, where he paused and turned around, gripping the girl's wrist.
Eileen jerked her hand away and frowned, moving her hand behind her back.
Egbert chuckled and asked, "I'll buy you a couple of new pajamas tomorrow, what kind do you prefer?"
Eileen glared at him, "Why are you buying me pajamas?"
Egbert grinned, "Do you really want to keep wearing those?"
Eileen firmly replied, "What's wrong with these? I think they're fine!"
Egbert couldn't help but laugh again.
"Hey, enough!" Eileen was really getting mad now. She swung the door open, gave Egbert a mighty shove, and closed the door behind her with a bang.
Outside, Egbert stood in the hallway in exasperation, shaking his head before turning to go back to his room.
But just as he turned around, he saw his parents, as well as Ms. Rosalind and Isabel, all standing silently at the stairway, watching him.
Egbert: "…"
Josephine Patton quickly swung an arm around Rosalind Robert Lopez’s shoulder, saying, "Haha, this room, this room. Rosa, you and Isabel can sleep here tonight. Egbert, what are you still doing here? Go back to your room, hurry up!"
Egbert glanced at Ms. Rosalind and noticed that she was clenching her fists, ready to march towards him.
Egbert was speechless.
Josephine, terrified, held onto Rosalind even tighter, yelling at Egbert, "What are you waiting for? I can't hold Rosa back much longer!"
Egbert sighed and turned to leave, but was stopped by the sound of hurried footsteps behind him.
Turning around, he saw Isabel charging at him like a cannonball.
Isabel, with a stern look on her face, stood in front of Mr. Reed, and stamped on his foot.
After stepping on his foot, Isabel huffed in satisfaction, then ran back to hug her grandmother.
Egbert rubbed his temples in exhaustion.
Then, Egbert heard his father's voice, "Even kids don't like you. You're such a loser. Go back to your room now, you're embarrassing us!"
Egbert closed his eyes and endured, then quickly walked back to his room and closed the door.
That night, Eileen thought she would have trouble sleeping.
But surprisingly, she slept very well.
At six in the morning, Eileen got up, got dressed, and tiptoed downstairs.
The first floor was eerily quiet, with no one else in sight.
Were they all still asleep?
Eileen was unsure of what to do. After all, it was someone else's house, and she didn't want to be rude. But it was too early, and she had no idea what to do.
Suddenly, Eileen spotted the nunchaku on the coffee table.
She hesitated for a moment, then picked it up and went to the small garden outside the balcony to practice.
After practicing for half an hour, Eileen heard footsteps behind her.
