Defying Fate: The Unstoppable Eileen novel Chapter 260

All of a sudden, the room fell silent.

Eileen moved past Phyllis and headed to the kitchen. In a short while, she emerged with a plate of scrambled eggs and placed it before Egbert.

Ignoring the gazes of those around him, Egbert took the fork and started eating.

After tasting it, he said, "It’s really good."

Eileen nonchalantly replied, "Obviously, I already knew it was good. I had some before you come down."

The dining room grew somewhat quiet after that.

Everyone quietly ate their meal, and when they had finished, Phyllis suddenly glanced at her phone and said, “Bblythe is already at the airport.”

At ten o’clock in the morning, Bblythe arrived at the bridal suite.

Although they often chatted in the group, they hadn’t seen each other in person for quite a while. Now that they were together, everyone was a bit excited. Phyllis held onto Bblythe and wouldn’t let go.

Bblythe patted Phyllis’s head and, with a smile, said to Eileen and Egbert, “I brought a wedding gift.”

Eileen was taken aback, then her eyes instantly lit up at Bblythe!

Returning to her car, Bblythe fetched a large box. Eager to help, Eileen rushed to assist her. They placed the box on the coffee table and Eileen asked, “What’s inside?”

As she opened the box, Bblythe explained, “It’s a silk quilt.”

Eileen was a little surprised at this gift.

Bblythe pulled out a bit of the quilt to show Eileen its quality, then said, "It's a handmade pure silk product. When I asked my mom what was an appropriate wedding gift, she suggested cash. But I thought that was too cliché. I asked what else I could give and she suggested a quilt. In her generation, gifting a quilt for a wedding was a common tradition, and it’s also useful. So, I got you a quilt!"

The room fell eerily silent, everyone was speechless

In the midst of this strange silence, a man’s soft laughter suddenly rang out. Everyone turned to see it was Egbert who was laughing. His deep eyes filled with amusement.

Eileen turned to glare at him, then kicked him lightly in the shin!

Bblythe, seeing everyone’s silence, asked in confusion, “What? Did someone else give you a quilt already? It doesn’t matter. You can always use another one.”

“Bblythe…” Phyllis tentatively approached and took Bblythe’s arm, struggling to find the words, “Who… are you gifting it to?”

Bblythe replied, “Does it matter? They can share it. They’re married, after all.”

Phyllis was speechless

Josiah awkwardly asked, “Bblythe, what do you think their relationship is?”

Bblythe replied, “They’re a married couple, right? Didn’t they secretly get married and then announce it on a reality TV show?”

Phyllis slapped Bblythe’s arm and whispered, “Who told you that?”

Bblythe was stunned, “Isn’t it?”

Phyllis replied, “Of course not! They're just pretending to be married for a reality TV show. They were just paired up for the show.”

Bblythe was dumbfounded! She looked at Phyllis, then at Eileen, who was expressionless.

Realizing they weren’t joking, she immediately apologized, “I’m so sorry! I’ve been out of the loop because of filming. I heard you two got married and thought I had missed out on some big news. I even checked online but found nothing. I thought you were planning on announcing your marriage on the reality show!”

Embarrassed by her mistake, Bblythe quickly tried to make amends.

Eileen felt like crying. She didn’t understand how things had gotten so complicated. Egbert, on the other hand, glanced at the quilt and pondered, “It will come in handy someday.”

Bblythe quickly pushed the gift towards Egbert, saying, “Then let’s give it to Mr. Reed. It’s a good quality silk quilt. You’ll surely need it when you get married, Mr. Reed!”
