Heartstrings on Fire novel Chapter 460

When Agnes saw that comment, she felt like she had frozen solid, her spine chilled to the bone.

Alyssa attempted suicide by overdosing?

Agnes flashed back to the moment when Jared had just left, the fear in his eyes.

Without thinking, Agnes headed straight out the door, dashing towards Hope Hospital.

However, the hospital entrance was tightly sealed off by security, and reporters were crowded like ants.

If Agnes showed up now, she'd be the perfect target for a media feeding frenzy.

The word on the street was that she was the one who broke the story.

She hid in a corner for a while, overhearing a reporter saying, "I heard she was saved just in time, but she's in a pretty bad state mentally. No one knows the specifics yet. Tim almost had a heart attack when he found out. They've been hiding this for so many years, and now it's all out in the open. The Whitfield family's reputation is ruined."

Another reporter chimed in, "You don't get it, it's bigger than you think. I heard Cilian has always wanted Ryder Whitfield to return to the Thomas family, apparently, he's involved in this too."

"The drama among these wealthy families is so complicated. But, the deeper we dig into it, the better it is for us reporters. We won't have to worry about headlines for a while." The reporters chuckled and chatted amongst themselves.

Agnes turned around and left.

By rights, Alyssa's current predicament should be a source of satisfaction for Agnes. Alyssa was ridiculed, attacked by public opinion, scandal-ridden, and her reputation in tatters, just like her mother back in the day.

Regardless of who had spilled the news, in a way, her revenge had been exacted, and it was perfect.

And yet, there was not a shred of satisfaction in Agnes' heart, only a growing heaviness, especially upon hearing of Alyssa's suicide attempt.

Back then, her own mother had been driven to suicide in desperation.

Now, Alyssa was experiencing what her mother had gone through, every bit of it.

She should have been happy for this, happy for her mother.
