Chapter 153

“Keep dreaming, Rufus!” Diane replied coldly as soon as she heard that.

Manuel’s complexion turned ugly in an instant, and he said to Diane, “Why would you say that, Diane? We are a second-tier family. You’ll be one step up the social hierarchy if you marry my son. You should’ve been grateful that he still fancies you even though you’ve been married once and had already given birth to a child. Where did you get the nerve to say tell my son to keep dreaming

“כי

After making that remark, Manuel turned his head to Rufus and said, “You’re a disappointment, Rufus. You could’ve chosen any woman in the world, and you just had to choose her. You’re my son, after all. Don’t you have hordes of women to choose from?”

Rufus pouted. “But Dad! The woman I truly like is Diane! It just has to be her!”

Catherine thought for a while before taking a step forward and saying to Manuel, “Severin did beat your son up today, but I trust that Severin wouldn’t’ve gone so far as to hit him if your son didn’t cross the line!” She then paused briefly before continuing. “Your son is alive and well. He doesn’t seem to be seriously injured. On that note, we can’t let you go off empty-handed either. How about you give us a number, and we’ll reimburse you with some money for you to use on your son’s recuperation?”

“Grandma…you…” Stanley nearly fainted when he heard that. Diane, Judith and everyone else was overjoyed. As long as the old lady was willing to stand up for Severin, then things would not turn out so bad after all. Rufus was not seriously injured anyway, and Severin did make a point to hold

back when he retaliated.

“Money? That’s interesting!” Manuel laughed. ‘My son was beaten and you’re here talking about money?’ He gestured with his hand and said, “Fair enough. Let’s make it fifteen million!”

“Fifteen million!” Judith nearly fainted when she heard how much Manuel was demanding.
