Adira woke up, the same as every day stretching her legs off her bed and onto the floor, her arms raised up grazing the ceiling.
It was a dry and windy morning. Just weeks ago, the weather was stormy heat but now, the temperature suddenly decreases as people bid their goodbyes to summer and welcomed autumn.
Adira turned to the window, delighted to see the blue sky with just one giant cloud above. Sure, many has idea of a beautiful day that might include blue skies and fairies but for Adira, today was… Friday. Nothing special was going on and she had to go to work.
“I am excited to see the leaves from Deciduous trees to fall, though,” she murmured before she got out of bed. As she waltzed to get her phone to the top of the cabinet, she smelled the aroma of coffee being freshly brewed.
She stopped walking and with the phone on her hand, she looked at the door of her room.
Chadwick is probably up and fixing his breakfast.
As a morning person, the smell of the coffee woke Adira up with ease.
She wanted to go out and take a sip but a part of her mind tells her that she should check her phone first and foremost.
Yesterday, Chadwick and she took a photo shoot to advertise the newly launch wine. By now, the photos might have spread online through the sites. Before meeting Chadwick, she wanted to confirm the result of their plan.
As soon as Adira opened the site, she saw the picture of her and Chadwick in the banner.
“I look pretty on this picture,” she commented before she opened the comment section. She browsed upward and read each comment.
[“Adira so pretty! How to have a face like her?”]
[“Lol. I don’t actually believe the rumor. Maybe just some jealous butt guy who spread it. Shame on you.”]
[“Support this couple till the end!”]
[“Can someone tell me who are this couple? It’s all over my newsfeed.”]
[“They are the richest couple I know, kkkkkkk.”]
[“Chadwick! How can you be so handsome!”]
[“Favorite couple of the year! Now my jealous cell is curious where will I find a handsome and rich husband tooT^T”]
[“I bought the wine! It’s super affordable even though it came from the two largest luxury companies.”]
[“I don’t know who this couple is but I have a crush on the woman. Is she married?”]
[“They are married couple, lol.”]
[“There is a rumor that the husband is cheating on his wife. Guess it is not true!”]
[“Agree on this. I read the magazine written by Jaymee. It seems Chadwick is a gentleman. Maybe he just wanted to help the lady. Awww~ Where can I find someone like him?”]
[“Heard the statement that the girl in the party is the couple’s friend. Chadwick is kind-hearted and Adira is cool.”]
Almost majority of the comments are positive. That is a good news. However, as Adira scrolled down onto the comment section, one pessimistic comment caught her attention.
Her eyes squinted as she stared at the short CAPITALIZED comment written from an anonymous user.
[“CHADWICK IS AN IDIOT”]
A crackle of chuckles slipped from her lips. She laughed until she could fell her intense belly and tears prickled at the corner of her eyes. Among the comments, she likes that the best.
“Someone who shares the same thought as mine is existing,” Adira laughed while wiping the tears on her eyes.
Just who is this bitter person who commented this?
He is no other than the man who is now working at the coffee shop, Geoffrey Cullen.
“He’s really an idiot,” Geoffrey murmured while looking at the comment he dropped at the comment box section.
Today, he is working as barista in the coffee shop Vernon has recommended. There are only few customers so he browsed on his phone to check today’s weather but as soon as he opened the browser, he saw Adira and Chadwick’s picture. That plummeted his mood.
The night in the party, Geoffrey also saw how Adira caught Isa and Chadwick kissing each other. Geoffrey wanted to go and beat Chadwick right at that time! But instead of doing it, he rather chose to be on Adira’s side and blocked her way so she could not see the painful image anymore.
‘Now, I don’t know what to do,’ Geoffrey told to himself while standing behind the counter.
He kept on saying that he should not make a move to Adira since she’s married. But if Chadwick will continue to hurt her, Geoffrey might break his promise and let the taboo emotions take the lead on his decisions.
Brrr Brr
When his phone vibrated on his hand, he realized he’s day dreaming for too long and was staring at the blank space for a long time.
He looked at his phone and saw the flood notifications. He opened what the notifications about and saw the replies on his comment.
[“You must be an idiot.”]
[“Spot a jealous guy.”]
[“This man probably did not receive love and attention.”]
[“Shame on you~”]
[“Who are you to call Chadwick an idiot?!”]
[“Someone call the police. There’s a bitter bastard here!”]
[“Please tell that again if you are as handsome as him and as rich as him.”]
[“Lol”]
[“Probably, this might be Adira’s ex. KkkkkkkkkkkXD just kidding!”]
Geoffrey snorted at the replies on his comment. He couldn’t believe that there will be people who will still support Chadwick!
‘If only they know what the hell that bastard is doing right in front of his wife!’ Geoffrey exclaimed.
Veins protruded on his forehead as he gritted his teeth while typing his replies. It is so fortunate that he’s using a dummy account. He was all ready to go for a battle, which he doesn’t actually do before. Being a keyboard warrior and fighting against people in the social media is not his thing. But for Adira, he couldn’t help but to express his thoughts, and even act like a kid.
About to press the ‘post’ key, a customer knocked the table of the counter.
“Yes?!” Geoffrey said in an usual loud voice before he lifted his head and saw the customer in front of him.
Shoot.
That’s when he realized that he should be working right now instead of fighting useless and biased fans in the social media.
“Oh?” Geoffrey gasped. He swiftly shoved his hand inside the brown apron he’s wearing and put his phone into his pocket.
A sweet and business-like smile quickly spread on his lips.
“Good day,” he greeted the lady with pale skin, freckles on her cheeks and had her hair tied with a pony tail.
‘I should be thankful that the manager is absent today,’ Geoffrey said inwardly with cold sweats on his forehead.
“What is your order ma’am?”
The lady who is wearing a black women suit answered, “Give me one ice Americano, medium, and a roasted hazelnut ice latte, large.”
Roasted hazelnut ice latte. Geoffrey stuck in his place, unmovable while staring at the card.
‘I know someone who loves that,’ he thought.
Then a warm smile appeared on his heart-shaped lips, like the belated bid of summer before the autumn came.
Ever since he met his first love, all things around him just reminded of Adira.
“Okay. One ice Americano, medium and a large roasted hazelnut ice latte,” Geoffrey murmured. He made the order on the computer and got the card from the lady’s hand. “That’s $5, ma’am.” He gave the card back and said. “We will serve the drinks later. Please take seat first.”
The lady nodded her head and took a seat on the corner.
As she waited, Geoffrey prepared for the drinks. He couldn’t help but to smile all the time while making the drink that Adira loves the most. When he finished, he stick a note on the drinks. For the ice Americano, he wrote: “Have a great day!”
But for the roasted hazelnut ice latte, he wrote, “If you are having a stressful day, never forget to smile.”
He thought of that words with Adira in his mind.
Geoffrey left the counter and went to deliver the drink to the lady.
“Here is your…”
He placed the drinks above the table but did not finish his words. Oddly, the lady’s eyes are menacing. She clenched her hands and bit her lower lips.
Wondering what made the lady trembled in anger, Geoffrey followed the woman’s gaze.
From afar, he saw a man and a woman flirting with each other.
Geoffrey stared at the lady again and found the ring on her finger.
‘If she’s wearing a wedding ring then that means…’
The lady just caught his husband cheating.
‘What a world full of bastard,’ Geoffrey laughed sadly internally.
When the lady stood up, Geoffrey stepped back. He knew what might happen next and he better be prepared.
Working in the cafe, he must make sure not to let a commotion arise in this place. But, he has no plan to stop the lady. Actually, he’s cheering for her.
He watched the lady grabbed the Ice Americano with the note: “Have a great day!” on it. Then, she opened the cup while walking towards her husband. The next thing that happened surprised all the customers in the shop.
“Ahhhh!”
“Oh my!”
“Ah~”
Gasp after gasp.
All eyes tended at the woman who spilled her ice Americano to her husband’s face.
“What the f*ck!” the husband cursed after getting drained by the ice coffee. He stood up and turned around with great rage. “What the hell is wrong with…”
But he stopped when he recognized the lady who poured the coffee.
“W-Wife,” the pale man murmured.
“What? Wife?” the woman he’s flirting gasped. She stood up and shouted, “You have a wife?!”
“N-No. I m-mean…! I have and…”
“Jerk,” the wife murmured as she turned around and walked back towards Geoffrey’s direction.
“W-Wait! Wife! Let me explain! It’s not what you think!” He tried clinging on her arm but his wife pushed him away.
With tears running down on her cheeks, the wife grabbed the roasted hazel nut ice latte and walked out of the shop.
Geoffrey watched her until she exited the door.
That’s how a normal wife will act after she caught her husband cheating. And Geoffrey wished Adira would act the same.
‘Can you just be angry at Chadwick so that I don’t need to worry about you anymore?’

Adira’s POV
I got a text from my secretary that she will be late at work.
This is the first time that Hansel will be late. She’s a punctual worker who wanted to do her very best in any task given to her.
‘Maybe, something happened,’ I guessed.
Shrugging my shoulder, I went outside my room.
As soon as I came out, the aroma of the coffee took over my senses. The bitter, yet inviting warms smell filled the air, making my taste buds ache for the bitter yet addicting coffee I longed for. I followed where the smell came from while inhaling. Then I saw my husband in the living room.
He’s sitting on the sofa with his head h ung low. The coffee sat quietly on the table.
I watched the smoke dances upward from the cup to nothingness.
‘If he won’t drink it, then why bother making one?’
“Good morning, honey,” I greeted.
But Chadwick did not look back.
“I saw the comments. It seems we surpassed the crisis.”
“...”
Once again, he did not reply.
What’s wrong?
Maybe he’s just not in the mood.
Or maybe, he’s regretting kissing me in front of the staffs yesterday?
Whatever it is, I should not care.
I turned around, about to walk into the kitchen to go a grab a cereal.
“Adira.”
My feet halted.
I looked back and saw him staring at me with serious gaze.
“The project between Wine&Vibe and Crimson Meadow will end after five months. Right?”
I squinted my eyes at my odd husband.
‘Why is he suddenly asking a rhetorical question?’
“Yes. You are right. We have five months. Why?”
“Then after five months, let’s… divorce.”
Divorce.
A divorce.
After seeing him and Isa kissed that night, a proposal of divorce came.
I knew this would happen soon. That he will realized he wanted to be with the woman he really loves. However, I am slightly disappointed that he'll go without getting me pregnant.
Am I really going to live alone? I want my own kid and raised him by myself.
“Alright,” I agreed. “But in exchange, before our divorce, make me pregnant.”
