The staff of the beach resort gasped as soon as they saw the handsome young master, Geoffrey. When Geoffrey and Isa’s parents were still alive, the whole family always visited the resort. But when died, Geoffrey never went to this place again. NEVER, until now.
Wearing ripped pants and a white shirt, Geoffrey walked towards the staff. He recognized some, but others were new to him.
“Y-Young master,” the staff, who recognized him, uttered.
All looked at the man with blonde hair, rigid hawk-eyes, tanned skin, arched brows, pointed nose, heart-shaped lips, and long legs. He looks like a prince who hopped down from a white horse. But when they saw the helmet he’s carrying, they imagined him as a hot guy in his motorbike instead.
Wearing perturbed expressions, Geoffrey approached them. The musky and mint scent from him made a pleasant scent around the place.
“Where is Isa?” Geoffrey asked.
“Miss Isa went to serve drinks for the guests in the resort,” one answered.
“Who are the guests?”
“They are two companies who rented that large villa for two days,” she said, pointing to the villa.
Geoffrey followed where her finger was pointing. An accusatory frown crumpled between his arched brows.
Without hesitation, Geoffrey picked up his pace towards the villa, while the staff followed his back faded in the dark. As soon as Geoffrey got near the cottage, he looked around to see any familiar faces. However, he did not see Isa, or Chadwick, or Adira.
He grasped her blonde hair upward while heaving a sigh. Suddenly, he heard loud voices coming from the back of the villa. Geoffrey ran towards where he heard the commotion and saw people swarming around the pool.
His eyes widened when he saw Adira in the middle of the pool while staring at Geoffrey. On the other side, Chadwick is with Isa.
“Huh,” Geoffrey snorted while staring from afar.
After gawking at Chadwick, Adira dived in the water to get back.
“I was so scared,” Isa cried without tears. Trembling in cold, she hugged herself and stared at Chadwick. “I really thought I’m gonna die.”
Hansel gaped at the sight of Isa, who looked like an abandoned puppy. She couldn’t believe how Isa could act, that she’s really scared when she’s the one who threw herself in the wonder and endangered her life.
‘She is really an attention seeker!’ Hansel gasped internally.
“However, I cannot understand why miss Hansel did that to me,” Isa added before she turned her head to Hansel. “Why did you do that? Did I make a mistake to you?”
A pair of eyes went to Hansel.
Not only did Isa jump on her own, but she’s also framing Hansel too!
Hansel’s fury sprang to life and her jaw dropped.
“What are you saying?” Hansel rebuked. “You are the one who…!”
“It’s weird.”
Chadwick’s voice halted Hansel from continuing her words.
All looked at Chadwick, whose eyes were still in the water. “Adira should be here right now,” he said before everyone stared at the direction where Adira dived in.
There’s no sign of her body moving towards the surface.
Chadwick’s instinct told him that something happened while Adira is underwater.
“Sh*t,” he cursed, about to go and dive in but Isa held his hand.
“Where are you going?”
Chadwick pushed Isa’s hand and in panic, he shouted, “Let go!”
The scream echoed around the pool and shook Isa’s heart, like a strong earthquake.
After pushing Isa away, Chadwick will dive into the water, yet too late, someone already dived in before him.
It was too fast.
Freeze on his spot, Chadwick watched the man brought Adira at the surface of the water.
“Ahhh!” Adira gasped air.
She was drowning.
Adira was drowning but he was too late to save her. Instead, the man who saved her is…
“B-Brother?” Isa called Geoffrey.
When Adira saw the face of her savior, her eyes widened in shock. They are clearly in a beach resort together with their company’s staff. All that happened is that she went under the water and almost died, and then suddenly, this man appeared?
Carrying Adira, Geoffrey brought her to the pool side where people were waiting for rescue. They helped Adira go out and let her sat down on the edge of the pool. Then, he also gets out of the water with difficulty as his clothes soaked and became heavier than before.
“Ma’am, are you okay?”
“Hey! Bring towel for the president!”
Amidst the loud voices of people around, everything seemed muted for Geoffrey, Adira, Isa, and Chadwick.
Adira kept her eyes on the floor. Water dripped from her wet red hair which turned darker. Isa stared at Geoffrey with pale face, while Geoffrey fixed his sharp eyes to Chadwick.
Seconds later, Chadwick snapped himself out. He went to Adira, trying to reach her while asking, “Are you o…”
The next thing that happened shut everyone’s mouths.
Adira slapped Chadwick’s hand, which was trying to hold her.
It is as if the world stopped its axis and so did people on the very ground.
Keeping her eyes on the ground, Adira stood up. The towel which was placed around her back fell from her shoulder and on the ceramic tiles.
Adira did not bother looking at anyone’s eyes when she leaped away in silence. Those who were blocking his way, automatically moved aside, giving path to her and they followed her lonely back with their worried gaze.
Ignoring what other people would think right now, Chadwick stood up.
“Adira,” he called. He walked along the path Adira used until his feet fastened to follow her.
As Adira and Chadwick left the place, Geoffrey and Isa were left staring at each other. Isa does not know how Geoffrey found out that she’s here, but things might turn bad.
Not only she’s scared how will Geoffrey react, but she’s also damn annoyed that he came here to be by Adira’s side.
On the other hand, Chadwick was still following his wife.
“Adira, wait a minute!”
He caught her shoulder and when he turned her around to look at him, Chadwick was stunned.
Adira’s red hair, darker than usual, glossy, and abundant, which contrasting with her brown eyes, had made her face so strangely attractive. But she stood in front of him with vacant eyes and fixed pallid, as if a monster had taken residence inside and she could not hear him right now.
Then dark. A black lurked deep within her gaze. The feverish black eyes stared at him as if she would devour whoever stands her way.
Adira knew that Chadwick only chose to save Isa since it was needed. Still, she felt so damn mad and embarrassed. What’ more, she cannot understand why she’s behaving this way, when she was cool about this before.
Is it really because of her pride?
Because everyone saw how he ignored her?
But she did not feel like this at the launch party before. When Chadwick hopped down from the stage to save Isa and left Adira, all Adira felt was that Chadwick is an idiot. But now… she does not know anymore.
‘I just don’t want to see his face.’
Adira removed Chadwick’s hands on her shoulder and stepped back.
“The divorce.”
Suddenly, the divorce slipped out of her mouth.
“Let’s not wait for five months. I will take responsibility for everything. Just…” Adira stepped back again while shaking her head. Then, a sarcastic smile painted on her red quivering lips. “As soon as possible, let’s do it.”
