Troy's heart tightened. The only reason he could still call Ayla every day and stay close to her was because of the twins. The twins were the last remaining connection between Troy and Ayla. But now the twins were gone. If Ayla found out, everything would fall apart.
To Troy, the children were his greatest card. Without them, he had no reason to believe Ayla would ever return to him.
He forced down the panic rising in his chest. "I understand," he said quietly.
After hanging up, Troy kept his face calm. He asked the nannies to send him the video from earlier, the one taken while the twins were outside in the sun. Then he forwarded it to Ayla.
Troy watched the video himself. The twins looked adorable today. They wore cute little outfits, and for once they were awake during their time outside.
Their big eyes moved everywhere, full of curiosity. They looked so alive. And as they grew, they were starting to look more and more like him and Ayla.
They were their children.
But now they were gone.
Troy turned off his phone and slowly stood up from the couch.
The room was silent. Suddenly, he grabbed the lamp beside the couch and slammed it onto the floor. The expensive lamp shattered instantly.
The nannies burst into tears from the shock.
Isabella stood nearby, her face pale.
Troy pointed at everyone in the room. "If the children aren't found," he said coldly, "all of them will go to hell."
The nanny and the bodyguards were no longer just nervous. They were terrified.
Troy turned to Isabella and spoke slowly. "Call them again. Push them harder."
"Yes, boss." Isabella stiffened. She hurried to make more calls.
The best investigators were already on the case. City traffic cameras were being checked. Airports, train stations, and ports were under strict watch. But every report said the same thing. No clues.
Three hours had passed since the twins were taken.
That was enough time for a plane to leave Trensea. It was enough time to board a ship. The babies were so small they could be hidden in a backpack without anyone noticing.
And whoever took them had clearly planned everything. They must have prepared ways to avoid being tracked.
Even the powerful Winstons could not find them quickly. Who would steal children from the Winstons?
