Eleven Years All to the Wrong Man novel Chapter 293

Evan and Melissa’s relationship seemed to have reverted to how it was when they first met.

After their encounter at the hospital that day, Evan had paid their medical bills and left Melissa a debit card with a significant amount of money on it, but he hadn't contacted her since.

Melissa hadn't touched a cent of the money Evan gave her. Every day, she would just hold the card, waiting for her father to wake up and thinking about Evan.

One day, while leaving her father's room to find a nurse, Melissa ran into Emma again.

When she came face to face with her, the sense of timidity she used to feel was gone for the first time. Melissa realized she was now bold enough to confront Emma directly; the initial fear and apprehension had completely vanished from her heart.

Emma had been looking down at her medical report, but as if sensing something, she instinctively looked up and met the eyes of the young woman approaching her.

For the first second of eye contact, the young woman's gaze flickered away as it always had, but an instant later, she lifted her head again, her eyes locking onto Emma's with a bold and unabashed stare.

Emma, who had been on her way to Nathan's office, stopped in her tracks. Her expression was calm, her eyes studying the young woman who was also looking at her.

"Can I help you?"

Emma was the first to speak.

Not expecting Emma to stop, much less be so direct, Melissa hesitated for a moment before walking closer. As she faced Emma, any trace of her previous guilt and fear was gone.

"Does he know you're sick?"

Since Emma was being so direct, Melissa decided not to beat around the bush either. "Why haven't you told him?" she pressed. "Are you scared, or do you just not want to?"

Heh.

How ridiculous.
