From Ashes of Scandals to His Embrace novel Chapter 450

Laurinda stepped into Seraphina’s home, handing her a manila envelope. “Take a look. This is what your so-called best friend has done to you.”

Seraphina took the envelope, her face blank and confused. She thought she knew everything Magnolia had done. What could possibly be in here that she didn’t already know?

Magnolia heard Laurinda’s voice and looked up. Next to Laurinda’s easy confidence, she felt like a rat caught in the gutter. Laurinda was just some fake heiress, kicked out by her rich family, and her grades were terrible. How did she still get to live so freely, so happily?

It had to be that pretty face. If she could just ruin it, no one would ever like Laurinda again. Not even Adolphus. He’d hate her, just like everyone else.

Magnolia slipped her hand into her pocket, feeling for the small blade she used for her eyebrows. She’d brought it today, planning to threaten Seraphina, but now she’d use it on Laurinda’s face instead.

She scrambled up from the floor and lunged at Laurinda, hoping to catch her off guard.

Laurinda didn’t flinch. She just stood there, calm, watching Magnolia with an amused little smile. That smile pushed Magnolia over the edge. She gripped the blade tightly and aimed right for Laurinda’s face.

A scream burst out in the living room. Magnolia went flying, crashing down hard on the coffee table. The table shattered beneath her.

Arrow was in front of Laurinda, lowering the leg she’d just used to kick Magnolia. There was no way she’d let Laurinda get hurt, not even a scratch. If Laurinda lost a single hair, Adolphus would never let it go.

Arrow moved fast. Before Magnolia could even get up from the splinters, Arrow had her tied up, using the kind of knots you’d use for a dog. Magnolia wasn’t going anywhere.

“Let me go! You can’t do this, this is kidnapping, you—”

Arrow stuffed a rag in Magnolia’s mouth. Instantly, everything was quiet.

Laurinda looked at Magnolia, all tied up and still struggling, and realized she didn’t have anything left to say to her. After seeing all the things Magnolia had done, Laurinda actually felt a bit relieved. At least all she did was steal Laurinda’s work. Anything more would have been unbearable.

Laurinda turned to Seraphina, ready to comfort her, but saw Seraphina’s hands shaking. Before she could say anything, Seraphina rushed over to Magnolia and slapped her, not just once, but again and again.

“So you set me up from the very beginning. Even those guys you said attacked us—you paid them, didn’t you? Magnolia, you’re disgusting! I actually felt sorry for you, I blamed myself for what I thought happened to you, but you’re the dirtiest one of all!”

Seraphina’s voice broke. She’d spent years trapped by guilt over something that wasn’t even real. Now, facing the truth, it was just too much.

Laurinda gently took Seraphina’s hand and led her out of the living room. At the front door, she spoke softly. “The house is filthy now. You shouldn’t stay here. Come back to my place tonight, get some rest. Don’t worry about Magnolia. I’ll handle her. She still has unfinished business with Queen. She can’t get away that easily.”
