Laurinda really wasn’t in the mood to talk, so she just handed the file over to York.
He took it, looking totally lost at first, but as soon as he glanced through it, he shot to his feet, looking furious.
“Baal... That guy is a real piece of work.”
Laurinda let out a cold laugh. “I want back every damn thing I ever gave him. Set the trap; I want him ruined. And let’s end our partnership with him, the sooner the better.”
York got it right away. He paused for a second, thinking it over. “Give me a month. I’ll end the project as fast as I can. Once that’s done, we’ll serve him a nice gift he won’t forget and make sure he never recovers.”
Laurinda sat back in the lounge, pouring herself some tea. She took a sip, trying to calm down, but she still couldn’t help sneering.
They stayed in York’s office for a bit, chatting about things in Stonehaven, when suddenly York remembered something.
“Jack went to Stonehaven the other day. He beat up Kenny. Kenny’s still in the hospital now, recovering.”
Laurinda blinked, honestly stunned. Jack went to Stonehaven? And he actually beat up Kenny? She didn’t think things between them were that bad.
“Why? I thought Jack was tied up with business in Northland.”
A suspicion came over her, and she stared at York, brow furrowing. “Did you tell him what really happened when I got hurt back then?”
“Yeah. I wanted to go myself, but as soon as Jack found out, he didn’t give me the chance. He rounded up our people from Stonehaven and stormed right into Kenny’s place, gave him a serious beating. Now he’s looking for a way to deal with Baily next.”
A faint, dark smirk tugged at Laurinda’s lips. She had to admit, the news was a welcome distraction. Kenny definitely deserved that. It was long overdue.
“As for Baily... don’t go overboard. He’s an old man, after all. If he happens to break an arm or a leg, we’ll just call it the fragility of old age.”
