His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 509

Isaiah POV

I explained everything to Aric about our suspicions that we have a mole in the pack. I also explained what happened in the human world. Aric started to look a little nervous, which I found odd.

“Is everything…okay?” I asked him.

“Perhaps the four of us should go to your office, Alpha,” Aric said.

I looked at him strangely, but agreed. We went to my office, and we all sat down. The furniture was replaced, and the room was deep-cleaned again. Now it smelled clean and like new leather.

“Okay, so you wanted to speak in my office, Aric. What’s going on?” I asked.

“I know who your mole is, Alpha.”

I raised my eyebrow, “Who is it?”

“Me. But I swear, I didn’t send a hit on Luna Kaia. You can check all my communication records. I only changed the prenup because I knew Paul’s temperament and I needed someone greedy enough to agree to the prenup.”

“Why? Why would you do that?” Kaia asked. “I suffered being married to that asshole, Aric.”

Aric sighed, “I was playing the long game. You know my sister was murdered by rogues. What you don’t know is that when she turned eighteen, she found out that Paul was her mate. He took advantage of her and then rejected her. Afterward, she found out she was pregnant. She told Paul, and he still refused her. Two nights later, rogues attacked and killed her. It looked like she was targeted. I swore I would get revenge. I was certain it was Paul, Luna.”

I’m angry, and at the same time, I understand. I still don’t think it’s right though.

“So you intercepted emails from Alpha Max and replaced the original agreement with the all-or-nothing agreement.”

“Yeah. I knew Paul was abusive and cheated on any woman he was with. When I found out that Alpha Max was trying to arrange a marriage, I got into his computer while he was out on business and started talking to Mr. Saunders. I set up the circumstances of how he would lose it all. I also wanted him to feel helpless, that no matter what, he was going to lose something. Whether it was fifteen percent or the whole company.”

“And what about the hitman?”

“I have nothing to do with that, I swear. You can Alpha Command me, if you think I’m lying. I wanted Paul to suffer. Why would I hurt someone I didn’t even know?”

He’s not wrong, but if that is the case, there is no issue with the mole; we have a different threat. A threat that really wanted to kill Kaia. That’s an even bigger mystery, unless Kaia’s father was lying all along and he really did send a hitman to kill her.
