Isaiah POV
I’ve just finished walking the cave with Aiden. He is grinning widely. “The Moon Goddess said we needed more of those stones. Now you have the cave. We will start reinforcing the structural integrity of the cave so it doesn’t collapse while you are mining it.”
“Thanks. Yeah, I will get started with ordering supplies after the Luna ceremony. Now I need to figure out who our new enemy is that is threatening Kaia.”
Aiden’s eyes snapped to mine immediately. “New threat? What are you talking about?”
I went on to explain everything Aric told me. Then told him how Kaia’s attorney is in the hospital. Aiden’s eyes grew more concerned with each passing moment.
“I hate to say this, but do you think Alpha Max is involved?”
“What? No. I mean, he swears up and down he didn’t know about anything,” I said.
“Do you really believe that though? Think about it. Paul is his only son. He originally negotiated a different prenuptial agreement. Aric may have changed it, but Kaia’s father jumped on it. Realizing his legacy was going to begin and end with him, maybe he decided to hire a hit against Kaia, so that she wouldn’t be able to take claim of Paul’s assets and it would remain in Paul’s hands.”
I sit back and think about what Aiden is saying. It’s plausible, but still, Max was happy to sign over ownership of Ironclaw to us, and he was trying to get Paul to negotiate with Aiden beforehand.
“I’m not sure. The theory sounds like grasping. It’s one I’ll keep in mind, though.”
“Where is Max now?”
“He said he was visiting some family in another pack. He should be back by the end of the week,” I said.
“Don’t you think he has the means and opportunity to hurt Kaia’s lawyer?” Aiden asked.
“On the outside, it seems like fingers are pointing at him, but something is telling me he is not our guy, Aiden. He willingly signed over the pack. He treated Kaia like a daughter. He didn’t interfere when I fought Paul. If it was him, why do those things? It just doesn’t make sense,” I said. “I don’t think he is involved.”
“Okay. Just keep eyes on him. Just in case, bro.”
“I will.”
Soon it was time for the Luna Ceremony. My brother is going to officiate the ceremony, and I am waiting on the stage. Everyone is gathered, and I am nervous, yet again, for the second time in twenty-four hours. I’m binding Kaia to me, and she is going to officially take her place as my Luna.
I looked at the pack members that have joined, and I see Rodrigo and Sheri. They have their mate marks. So they completed the bond. I guess Rodrigo is happy now with his mate. It seems like he forgot all about Sinclair. That’s what happens with the mate bond, though. The rest of the world fades away, and all you see is your mate.
Soft music is playing, and I see my father walking Kaia down the aisle to me. She looks like a vision. Her white dress hugs her body while accentuating the small pregnancy bump. The dress is long and elegant, and wraps around her neck like a halter top, while still showing off her fantastic breasts.
When she reached me, I held my hand out to her and helped her come up on stage. I looked at my dad and nodded. He smiled and took his seat by Mom, and Aiden began the ceremony.
Once he gave the speech, he started asking Kaia her vows.
“Do you, Kaia Willis, promise to be faithful to your mate, Isaiah Willis?
