His Plump Mate (by Buchanan) novel Chapter 512

Kaia POV

After Isaiah and I spoke, I took over reviewing the financial documents. My specialty was always information gathering. I have my own home-grown program I use to analyze documents quickly. It’s more of a set-it-and-forget-it system. Once the program started processing the documents, I moved on to reviewing all the assets.

Paul managed to buy five very expensive properties. All of which are now under my name. What surprised me was that one of those properties was literally the one with the private beach that Sinclair and I laid out on while we were helping Thalia escape that arranged marriage. I could have been Thalia’s next-door neighbor. Ha! Small world.

I start looking up real estate agents. I’m debating whether or not to list my own house for sale when Isaiah walks in. He has spaghetti with Italian sausage for me and a peanut butter milkshake.

“I brought you lunch, trouble.”

“Thanks,” I said. “I have a question for you.”

“Hopefully I have an answer.”

“There is one property, well two actually, I’m debating on selling. One is the house I bought. I’m leaning towards selling it. I’ve never had good memories there, but it was also my first big purchase,” I explained.

“I understand the nostalgia, but if you only have bad or lonely memories there, I wouldn’t keep it,” he said. “What about the second property?”

“That is actually right next door to Thalia’s old place. Rodrigo lives there. I figured that if we visited the human world, we would have a place to stay and be next to family. Plus, it has its own personal beach,” I said.

“That would be a good one to keep. Plus, it sounds like a great vacation rental to generate income. We can block off certain dates when we plan to visit, and rent it out the rest of the time.”

“So, we have a vacation home then. I like it,” I said. “I want to check out the house though. I need to see what kind of renovations are needed. You already know that Paul had terrible taste. It’s going to take forever to get this place in excellent condition.”

He laughed and hugged me from behind. “I trust your female instincts in decorating. I will ask that you keep it simple. I’m more of a straight-line kind of guy.”

I laughed, “Duly noted.”

I explained to him that my program is running the numbers on the financial reports. Once that’s complete, I will do my own analysis, and then we will discuss my findings. I also started researching Black Enterprises. I received all the company records and started going through the board members. I am running a search on each member to see what they are hiding and who needs to be addressed.

I feel Isaiah looking at me as we are both working in his office. I asked him to bring a desk in here so we can discuss our findings as they happen. Now, he is just staring at me.

“What?” I asked.

“You are an incredible woman, Kaia. Watching you work is really something.”

I blushed. I didn’t expect a random compliment. Truth be told, I look like a mess. My hair is in a messy bun. I have a pencil in my ear. My reading glasses, which I only wear while in front of a computer screen, are on, and I’m in a pair of yoga pants and a baggy T-shirt. I don’t look cute at all, and he is looking at me like he wants to devour me.
