I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 174

The words had barely left my mouth when the arm around my waist tightened violently. I watched as Steven’s handsome face contorted with a chilling darkness, a palpable rage that proved he was on the verge of exploding.

“Zephyra,” he said, his voice a low growl, each word laced with venom. He looked at me as if he wanted to tear me apart. “I think you actually want to die.”

A dull ache shot through me, and my face scrunched up in pain. I pounded on his hand. “That hurts! Let go!”

Not only did he not let go, but his other hand suddenly slipped under the hem of my dress. His rough fingertips brushed against my leg, moving upward.

A wave of shock and fury washed over me. My eyes flew open as I stared at his stone-cold face, desperately trying to stop his hand.

“Steven, are you fucking insane?!”

“Insane? You’re the one who drove me to this.” His grip was so tight it felt like he was trying to crush me into his very bones. In the bright sunlight, his handsome face looked twisted and menacing. His voice was low and rough. “You cheated on me last night, didn’t you? As your husband, it’s my duty to inspect the damage.”

*Inspect?!*

My blood ran cold, and my entire body went rigid. There was only one way to “inspect” something like that, and it involved…

I never thought Steven would stoop to something so vile and shameless. He was a neat freak! If I had really slept with Horace, wouldn’t he be disgusted?

“Zephyra, you had better be lying,” Steven snarled, the rage in his eyes boiling over, impossible to contain. “Otherwise—you will die by my hand today.”

I didn’t wait for him to finish. I lifted my leg and kicked out hard. My high-heeled shoe was made of stiff leather, and it had to have hurt when it connected with his shin. I kept my hand pressed firmly against his, trying to stop him, my voice filled with a mixture of terror and rage.

“Steven, you’re a pervert! Don’t touch me! Let go of me, let go!”

The man’s breathing hitched, and he shot me a cold glare before his hand moved with even more force.

In that moment, I was acutely aware of the vast difference in strength between a man and a woman. Even with both of my hands gripping his one, he could have easily thrown me off. My dress was practically being ripped off me, and a wave of panic finally overwhelmed my reason. I screamed.
