I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 265

While it was something I had expected, it felt like it was happening much sooner than in my past life.

Steven glanced at me, then turned his attention to Verna, his tone mild. “What are you doing here? You didn’t go home last night?”

Verna’s pretty, youthful face was clouded with anxiety. She seemed nervous, her fingers twisting together. “I’m so sorry, Mr. Lancaster. I was worried about your stomach, and I thought you might not have anyone to look after you at home, so… so I took the liberty of waiting for you. I must have fallen asleep without realizing it. Gordon offered to take me home, but I insisted on staying. I’m so sorry, Mr. Lancaster, Mrs. Lancaster. I’ll leave right now.”

So, he hadn’t officially moved her in yet.

I had no interest in getting involved in their burgeoning love triangle. I quickly stopped her, holding out the bag of medicine. “It’s fine. This is for Steven’s stomach. Just follow the instructions on the label.”

Verna looked at me, shocked, and recoiled as if the bag were poison. “Mrs. Lancaster, you’ve really misunderstood. I… I truly just fell asleep here by accident last night.”

I hadn’t even expressed any anger, so I couldn’t understand why she was so flustered. It almost made it look like I was bullying her.

“I don’t care what happened last night. You wanted to take care of him, didn’t you? Here’s his medicine.”

Verna fell silent, looking helplessly at Steven.

At some point, Steven’s handsome face had become a cold, emotionless mask, his eyes glinting with a frosty light. “Zephyra, what is the meaning of this?”
