I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 293

An anniversary gift?

I was even more stunned than Gordon. “What?”

Gordon looked flustered. “Are you upset that he gave it to you late? The thing is, this gift was custom-made and had to be shipped from headquarters. There was a delay, so it didn’t arrive on the day of your anniversary, but it got here the very next day.”

“I just assumed Mr. Lancaster had given it to you. I mean, it’s been almost two months…”

I stared at the gift box, a confused expression on my face.

“How could that be for me? Gordon, I know you’re loyal to Steven, but we’ve reached this point. There’s no need to lie.”

Gordon looked like he was ready to swear on his life. “Mrs. Lancaster, he told me himself. And on your anniversary, he had an unbreakable commitment, but he got a call from your cousin—or someone—saying you were sick. He immediately canceled everything to go home to you.”

My rebirth had been on our anniversary. In this life, Steven had indeed come home, claiming Antonia had called him about me being sick. I had immediately brought up divorce, and he had accused me of playing hard to get.

But… how could he have come home because he was worried about me? And why would he have prepared a gift?

None of this had happened in my past life. He hadn’t come home, and there had been no gift.

An indescribable feeling surged from the pit of my stomach and exploded in my mind. My head was buzzing with confusion. Something felt missing, but I couldn't put my finger on it.

But that was all it was. It wasn't enough to sway my emotions.

My relationship with Steven was a shattered mirror. A few skewed memories couldn't change anything.

Just then, Steven returned to the car with the medicine and a cup of hot soy milk. His handsome face was impassive.

“Take the pill, then drink this. If you feel sick, we’ll go to the hospital.”

Gordon fell silent and started driving again.

I stared at Steven’s face, quickly composing myself before looking down at the pill.

It looked completely different from the one I had this morning. I frowned at the packaging. “Are you sure you bought the right one? This looks like a vitamin.”

Steven’s expression immediately soured, his eyes narrowing as he glared at me.

“Are you questioning if I bought the wrong one, or if I tampered with it?”
