I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 308

A headache was starting to form behind my eyes. I looked at the intoxicated Jacob. “You’re drunk. I’m taking you home. Where do you live?”

Jacob, his cheeks flushed, shook his head emphatically, his voice rising.

“I’m not drunk! Who says I’m drunk? I want to see Verna. Zephyra, can you help me? I just want to see her…”

As he spoke, he tilted his head back and drained another glass of wine.

I was afraid he was going to drink himself to death. I snatched the glass from his hand.

“Stop drinking. Tell me where you live, and I’ll take you home. Otherwise, I’m dropping you at a hotel!”

I had just seen a story trending about someone who died from alcohol poisoning after a breakup, and how the people with them were held legally responsible. I was genuinely scared.

Jacob tried to grab the glass back, but his movements were clumsy and slow. He missed completely, and his head thudded onto the table. He closed his eyes, muttering Verna’s name.

I rested my forehead in my hand, regretting my decision to come to dinner. Breakups were always painful, especially for someone as young and sincere as Jacob, who hadn’t even graduated from college yet. For him, love was everything.

What was I thinking, getting involved in this emotional vortex? I was just asking for trouble.

The restaurant was starting to empty out as it got later. I thought for a moment and then called Myron. I remembered he was the one who took a drunk Jacob home after the competition celebration.

When he heard what was happening, Myron’s voice was full of excitement. “Don’t you take him! Tell me where you are, I’ll come get him.”

I raised an eyebrow, my tone playful. “Are you sure?”

Myron wasn’t exactly known for his altruism.

“Just give me the address.”

I told him the name of the restaurant. It wasn’t far from the office, and a short while later, Myron arrived. He was wearing a pink shirt under a white blazer, looking effortlessly stylish and handsome. He strode over to our table, glancing at the passed-out Jacob with surprise.

“What happened to him? Is everything okay at home?”

I scanned the QR code to pay the bill. “He’s going through something. What’s his address? Let’s get him home.”

Myron’s eyes shifted from Jacob to me, his brow furrowing.
