I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 525

I never knew Steven owned property in Baxo. He carried me from the car, my waist-length hair swinging freely. With my hands tied, I couldn't move.

For some reason, even back in the car, I felt weak despite my mind being clear, as if the delayed effect of strong liquor was setting in. But I hadn't had a drink. Even if my hands weren't bound now, I didn't think I'd have the strength to fight.

I looked around at the quiet manor, my heart pounding. I tilted my head up to look at him. “Why do I feel so sick? Was there something in your car?”

Steven glanced down at me. “What would be in my car?”

He seemed perfectly fine, full of strength, so it couldn't have been the car. Otherwise, we'd both be feeling the same symptoms.

Did something happen at the wedding venue?

I racked my brain but couldn't think of anyone who would help him drug me. A chill ran down my spine, and I leaned limply against him.

“I suddenly feel so sick. Are you going to deny you had someone do this to me? You're shameless, Steven! Absolutely shameless! Tricking me with Leonard, threatening me with Horace, throwing away my rings, and now… now you're trying to force me into this. You're an animal.”

“Force you?” Steven let out a soft, dark chuckle. “You know me so well, you already know what I'm about to do. But don't worry. We're legally married.”

“As for your brother, Gordon started handling it the moment you left the wedding venue. You don't need to worry too much.”

I gritted my teeth. “Do you know Monica? Don't tell me you set Leonard up.”

It wasn't paranoia. Steven's behavior since the car crash was eerily reminiscent of the man from my past life.

He was a master of manipulation, ruthless and cruel.
