I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 526

Double standard?

How dare Steven say that?

My eyes widened in disbelief, and a bitter laugh escaped my lips. But before I could retort, Steven kissed me again, silencing me completely.

I was too weak to break free. He pressed my hands down, lacing his fingers through mine.

He was forceful, brutal, trying to make me submit. Blindfolded, I couldn't see anything. I bit my lip, determined to stay silent.

This only seemed to enrage him further, and his methods became even more depraved.

Soon, the sky opened up and rain began to fall. It was a violent storm, with winds that tore leaves from the trees. The leaves wanted to fall, but the wind kept whipping them upward, higher and farther, robbing them of any control.

It was hours before the storm finally subsided, and the exhausted leaves could finally rest, clinging limply to the windowpane, unmoving.

By then, the sky was dark. A clock chimed six times.

The manor was completely dark, save for the lamps lining the driveway.

Steven stood before the floor-to-ceiling windows in the living room, dressed in loungewear, smoking one cigarette after another. In the dim light, his handsome features were cold and distant.

After a long while, he picked up his phone and made a call.

“That drug,” he asked, “does it have any harmful side effects?”

The voice on the other end was respectful. “Rest assured, Mr. Lancaster. All our clinical data has been excellent. People have taken it for twenty years with no reported abnormalities, and it meets all national safety standards. However, there is one crucial condition: once taken, the memory loss is irreversible. You cannot select specific memories; it will erase everything.”

Steven’s brow furrowed as he took a harsh drag from his cigarette.

“I want it within two weeks.”

He hung up, tossed the phone onto the sofa, and extinguished his cigarette. He then turned on the living room lights and walked towards the master bedroom.
