Gordon sighed and began contacting top neurologists abroad.
Meanwhile, Steven made a call to find out who in the country had purchased the drug.
The contact on the other end sounded troubled. “Mr. Lancaster, you’re putting me in a difficult position. I can’t just sell customer information. If I can’t protect my clients’ privacy, how can I stay in business?”
“But if you must know, I can tell you about the purchases made in the country in the last six months—the city, even the client’s name. But I can’t give you a specific address. I don’t even have access to that information.”
“Tell me,” Steven said coldly.
“There have only been two orders from your country in the last six months. One was yours, so we’ll skip that. The other was placed by someone named ‘Temp’ around the holidays, shipped to Baxo. Based on the delivery time, it should have arrived about two weeks ago.”
Around the holidays. That was when Zephyra was supposed to marry Horace, the same time he had crashed the wedding.
Steven’s deep-set eyes narrowed as a possibility took shape in his mind. He tapped his long fingers on the desk, his gaze falling back on the woman in the hospital bed. His expression darkened, his brow furrowed.
“Is there any way to reverse the memory loss?”
The contact chuckled. “You must be joking, Mr. Lancaster. Our product is designed to be permanent, unless it was administered incorrectly.”
Before Steven could say more, his phone buzzed. He glanced at the message, told the man he’d call back later, and ended the conversation.
The message was from his family’s old butler, informing him of three things:
His younger brother, whom he had kicked out of the company and cut off financially, was now idling at home.
His mother had fallen ill with anger and was bedridden.
His father, unable to reach him, had gone to see his grandfather. The old man had become agitated, and his blood pressure was currently high, but there were no other immediate concerns.
Steven’s eyes turned cold. He scrolled through his notifications and, sure enough, saw numerous missed calls and long voice messages from Mr. Sean Lancaster.
Ignoring them, he dialed the number directly.
