I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 646

In the hospital room.

The sky had already darkened by the time I woke up.

My head felt groggy, but the memory of what happened before I fainted came rushing back—the fight with Steven, and the way he’d forcibly kissed me.

Bastard!

He was an absolute bastard!

Just then, Gordon came in with a bowl of soup. His face lit up when he saw me. “Ma’am, you’re awake.”

Trying not to take my anger out on him, I just nodded and started to get out of bed. “I’m going back to the inn to pack my things. Please calculate what I owe for the last few days—expenses, medical bills, everything. I promise I’ll pay it back.”

Gordon froze, placing the soup on the table. “Did you and Mr. Lancaster have a fight? He knows he was wrong. He even found a kitchen to borrow so he could cook for you himself.”

My eyes flickered to the soup on the table. It was obviously made with care, the aroma rich and enticing. My stomach let out an embarrassing growl.

I was starving.

Gordon smiled. “You must be hungry. Why don’t you sit down and eat? Mr. Lancaster will be here soon.”

I kept my expression stern and headed for the door. “No, thank you.”

Gordon moved to block my way, but even with my resolve, I stopped dead in my tracks before I even reached the door.

Steven was standing there. He was still wearing the long overcoat, his handsome face exuding an air of sophisticated charm—a refined scoundrel. He looked every bit the privileged man he was, except for the food containers he was holding, which seemed completely out of place in his hands.

I shot him a glare, my cheeks puffed out in anger, and tried to push past him.

But he grabbed my arm, his grip firm but careful this time, not hurting me while still holding me in place.

“Where are you going without eating?”

I glared up at him, trying to wrench my arm free. “None of your business.”

Steven started guiding me back into the room. “You’re my responsibility right now, so it is my business.”
