I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 715

Watching the hot soup splash onto Steven, the anger that had been simmering inside me instantly subsided.

His domineering attitude had infuriated me. He was always trying to control my every move, yet he was endlessly gentle and protective toward Verna, which I found repulsive. I had only meant to knock over the food he was trying to feed me, not to burn him. I pressed my lips together tightly.

"I didn't mean to. You should go treat the burn."

"At least you still have a conscience," Myron said, quickly turning to Steven. "Steven, let's go."

Steven remained motionless, his deep eyes fixed on me as he repeated his question.

"Who was it that upset you?"

I looked at him, seeing his determination to get to the bottom of this, as if he would immediately help me the moment I named the culprit. A cynical laugh escaped me, and a wave of irritation washed over me.

"It was you. You upset me. And Verna upset me too. She has too much money, and it makes me jealous."

"You and I were married, for whatever that's worth, and even I never got a billion dollars. You're willing to spend that much just to buy her off and never see her again. When you wanted to get rid of me, why didn't you think of giving me a billion dollars?"

In my past life, when he wanted a divorce, he offered me ten million, plus shares in the company and year-end dividends.

While a few years by his side could have easily earned me a billion, he was always so stingy with me. It was pathetic.

Myron seemed to flinch when he heard that one particular word.

Steven's pupils constricted sharply. "What do you want me to do?" he asked in a low voice.

What could he do?

Even a bodyguard I had met only once could see that Steven would never hurt Verna.
