I Walked Away And He Lost His Mind (Zephyra and Steven) novel Chapter 841

When I didn't say anything, Rachel turned to the driver.

"Hey, I'm talking to you! My family's broke. If you're going to kidnap someone, take her. Let me go."

The man shouted impatiently, "Shut up! One more word and I'll kill you!"

Rachel was so scared she didn't dare make another sound.

The car drove on, heading into more and more desolate areas. Without my phone, I had no idea how much time had passed, and eventually, I couldn't stay awake any longer and drifted off.

I was shaken awake by Rachel to find the car had stopped. She stared at me, looking completely baffled. "You've got some nerve, sleeping at a time like this."

I hadn't wanted to sleep, but I couldn't help it. I rubbed my eyes and glanced out the window. It looked like it was around three or four in the morning.

The man pulled two black hoods from the glove compartment and threw them at me. "Put these on!"

I put one on without hesitation, and seeing me, Rachel did the same.

The man warned us viciously, "Behave yourselves. Try anything funny, and you won't leave here alive!"

Then, I heard a car door open and close.

With the hoods on, the fear of the unknown was terrifying. Rachel's voice trembled, "What do we do now? Should we just make a run for it?"

I half-joked, "Sure. You tell me where we're running to."

I had already glanced around; we were in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by wilderness. Without our phones, we'd have nowhere to run even if we got out of the car. We'd be caught in no time, and if we angered that man, he might actually hurt us.

Rachel's tone soured. "Fine, if you won't run, you don't have to be sarcastic about it. I'll go by myself!"
