A wave of pure terror washed over me, and for a moment, I couldn’t even form words. “Steven, you’re insane!” The drug was potent. It had turned a man who wouldn’t deign to look at me into this… this predator.
Panicked, I tried to push him off, but he caught my wrists and pinned them above my head. “Don’t waste your breath,” he sneered, his hot lips moving from my mouth to my neck, his kisses hard and bruising.
When I realized he was serious, I started to struggle in earnest. But his legs were like steel, trapping mine, and his grip on my hands was unbreakable. “Steven, be rational! You call me tacky and low-class, you can’t stand me! If you sleep with me, you’ll be just as tacky! And everyone thinks I’m a useless failure! Do you really want people laughing at you for forcing yourself on a failure? What would that do to your precious reputation?”
He just laughed, a low, humorless sound. “You ran around telling everyone you were a virgin and that I was impotent. What reputation do I have left to protect?” He bit down hard on my neck.
Pain shot through me, and tears sprang to my eyes. “You sick freak! Why do you always bite people? What is wrong with you?”
His mouth returned to mine as his other hand tore at my clothes. His breathing was growing heavier, more urgent. “I suggest you save your energy,” he rasped. “You’ll need it for screaming later.”
The cool air on my chest made me freeze. I was getting desperate. “Steven, you love Verna! Don’t do something that will ruin your chances with her! Listen to me, you’re just not thinking straight because of the drug. Go soak in a cold bath! Or, you know, use your right hand! There are ways to handle this that don’t involve me!”
