Nina nodded, pointing at the sleeping Noah. “Noah play together.”

“Noah can play when he wakes up,” Harper said, patting Nina’s head and sending her off to play.

Nina ran back, her little face serious as she reported, “Noah sleep.”

“Then we’ll go without him. Let’s play,” one of the older kids said.

The older kids wanted to take Nina out of the house, but William, worried she might end up at the pond again like yesterday, had instructed the bodyguards to keep a close watch and not let her leave.

Nina and her friends could only play inside the house.

Seeing they couldn’t go out, the older kids exchanged glances. Then, they led Nina to her room.

Once inside, a girl asked her, “Nina, do you want to come with us to pick red berries?”

A boy said, “The red berries are ripe. They’re super yummy.”

Nina replied instantly, “Okay.”

She was very cooperative with the older kids’ plan to sneak her out.

The older kids had brought large and small bags filled with local specialties for Nina.

When they left, they simply put Nina inside one of the bags.

One of the boys had a small four-wheeled cart. The village was doing well economically, and most families had a decent standard of living.

The sack containing Nina was placed in the cart, which then drove right out of the Bennett House.

Neither the bodyguards nor William, who saw them leave, realized Nina was hidden inside.

William asked as they passed, “Not playing here anymore?”

Since there were often adults around, to be safe, Nina stayed hidden in the sack.

Even though she couldn’t come out, she kept chatting quietly with the older kids.

Her chubby little hands held onto snacks.

They were taking good care of her.

“Nina, have you finished your cookie?” a boy asked.

She said, “No.”

“Okay, here’s another one for Nina,” that boy said.

“Tank you.” Nina’s sweet talk charmed the older kids completely.

The group of children left the village. At the village entrance, they passed Benjamin.

Benjamin glanced at the kids.

His eyes swept over them, but he didn’t spot Nina. He looked away without saying anything.

The kids saw him, too.

A boy said, “That man is so tall.”

A girl smiled, “Really handsome.”

Even the children couldn’t miss Benjamin’s looks.

They all thought he was handsome.

Nina, inside the sack, couldn’t see. Munching happily on the new cookie handed to her, she made crunching sounds.

The four-wheeled cart and Benjamin passed each other by.
