Chapter 449 A Hostage
Nina thought Sienna was really pretty–just like her!
Nina wouldn’t go to Philip, so Philip got up and walked over to her instead.
“Sweetheart, your grandma and I have known cach other for a very, very long time,” he said. “I haven’t seen her for many years.
“Since you’re here now, you should stay a while.
“I can tell you lots of stories about her.
“We practically grew up together.”
Philip’s words made it clear he intended to keep Nina there against her will.
Lester understood the implication but didn’t object or refuse on the spot.
Nina just kept clinging to Lester’s neck, silent toward Philip.
Philip watched her for a moment longer, then smiled and suggested she go play, inviting her to explore the vast estate.
Philip’s estate was incredibly lavish, but Nina didn’t like it. She didn’t like this place at all.
Lester took Nina for a “tour,” but she quickly pointed toward the main gate.
“Find Mommy?” she asked, wanting to leave. She didn’t want to stay.
Lester leaned down and pressed his forehead gently against hers.
“We’ll go find your mommy real soon,” he reassured the anxious little girl, then pulled out his phone to message Benjamin.
He didn’t call. A call might reveal his voice. Messaging was safer; no one could intercept his texts.
He discussed with Benjamin how to get out. If Philip wouldn’t let her go, a peaceful departure was impossible.
The Powell Estate’s security system was formidable. Breaking out from inside or forcing their way in from outside was equally risky.
Earlier, when meeting Philip, Lester had briefly considered using the gun at his hip to end things right there. But he dismissed the plan.
If Philip died, his loyal followers would stop at nothing to kill Lester on the spot. With Nina in tow, escape would be nearly impossible.
To leave now, the Graham family would need to rally their allied forces and put external pressure on Philip. Lester also had to find a way to create an opening from within.
While the adults strategized, Nina, unaware of the danger, was feeling listless.
“Nina no here,” she whimpered.
Nina couldn’t stand being cooped up, and she disliked this place intensely, so she kept trying to get outside.
With more and more pressure mounting, even Philip was surprised by the value placed on Nina.
