Miracle Cutie (Amelia and Benjamin) novel Chapter 519

Chapter 519 Her Request Sounded Reasonable

Tanner really couldn’t let her touch the bugs.

All the insects here were for display only.

Nina refused to give up. She held out her chubby little hand, stared at her empty palm, then looked up at Tanner.

Tanner sighed, “You really can’t, Nina.”

He was starting to feel stuck with her roundabout begging.

After thinking for a second, he tried to distract her.

Tanner said, “There are bigger bugs up ahead. And lizards, too, not just bugs.”

This exhibit had all kinds of reptiles.

Reptiles meant bugs and other crawling creatures, of course.

At the mention of even bigger bugs, Nina finally stopped holding out her hand.

She trotted ahead quickly on her short legs.

Tanner hurried right behind her, calling out, “Nina, slow down! No running in here!”

He told her not to run, but he was chasing her anyway.

Tanner didn’t know Nina well enough-she was the stubborn type who ran faster the more grown-ups chased her.

When Nina saw Tanner coming after her, she forgot all about the bugs.

She giggled and ran even quicker, determined not to let him catch her.

Nina only cared about running ahead. She kept going.

Then, with a thud, her little head slammed straight into someone, knocking the person right over.

Tanner rushed over and saw them both sitting on the floor.

He picked Nina up first, then looked at the other person. “Krystal?”

Krystal Eddy was a lab mate of Tanner’s, a year younger than him.

She was pretty, with long straight hair, a delicate face, and big eyes-very quiet and gentle.

Several guys in the lab had asked her out, but she’d turned them all down.

People in the lab had even dared Tanner to ask her out, but he’d refused.

He wasn’t romantically interested in girls like Krystal, but he respected her-she was really talented.

Right now, Krystal had clearly been knocked over by Nina. After lifting Nina, Tanner asked. “You okay? Can you get up?”

Krystal sat on the floor, her eyes fixed on Nina.

When Tanner spoke to her, she looked down, her voice soft. “I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.”

She said she was okay, but she didn’t stand up-it looked like she couldn’t.

Tanner was about to reach down and help her up.

But Nina, still in his arms, sniffled and whined before he could move, “Nina fall. Ouch.”

Tanner immediately pulled his hand back. Her little cry made him forget everything else.

He checked Nina over right away. “Where does it hurt?”

Nina patted her bottom.

Tanner rubbed her chubby bottom gently and soothed her patiently.

By the time he’d calmed Nina down, Krystal was still on the floor.

Tanner reached down and helped her up this time.

He said, “Did you fall hard? Do you need to go to the hospital? I’ll have someone go with you.”

From Tanner’s view, Nina had caused the accident, so he’d take full responsibility.

Krystal hesitated at his question.

She took a few tentative steps, then said to Tanner, “I probably don’t need the hospital, Tanner. But I’m a little uncomfortable right now—could you stay with me for a bit? I want to take some photos of the reptiles

here.”

Her request sounded reasonable, but Tanner couldn’t really stay.

He held Nina close and said to Krystal, “I’m watching a little kid. She runs around nonstop, and I have to keep an eye on her. I can’t walk around with you. I’m sorry.”

Tanner turned her down directly, but he offered a solution right away. “I’ll have a staff member stay with you instead. Is that okay?”

Krystal shook her head. “I’ll take the photos another day.”

Tanner said, “Alright.”

The two adults didn’t say much, but Nina was already impatient.

Nina urged, “Un-coo Tanner, go. Go!”

She didn’t want Tanner to keep talking-she wanted to see the reptiles.
