Chapter 522 Claimed to Be Tanner’s Girlfriend
“Benjamin, has Tanner ever done anything to upset you before?”
Amelia’s question left Benjamin falling quiet for a brief moment.

After staying silent for a few seconds, he turned the question right back to her. “Amelia, do you really think I’m the kind of person who holds petty grudges?”
Amelia fell speechless, staring at him blankly.
Isn’t that exactly what you are?
The perfect image Amelia once had of Benjamin had long faded away.
She’d been with him long enough to know-he never acted petty toward her, but he definitely did that sort of thing to other people.
“Well.” Amelia dodged the question without a straight answer.
She steered the conversation back on track. “How about we go pick up Nina instead?”
“No need.” Benjamin pulled Amelia close into his arms, leaned down, and kissed her softly. “Let’s just go have dinner together, just the two of us.”
نا
“What?” Amelia’s eyes widened in surprise, hesitation clear on her face.
Still, Benjamin already led her over to the car and helped her inside.
Time slipped by slowly, letting Benjamin and Amelia enjoy a rare quiet moment alone.
Back at the restaurant, Nina still hadn’t finished her meal after nearly an hour.
She’d ended the video call with Lucille and was now glued to a cartoon playing on the screen.
Amelia had texted Tanner earlier. She told him to put on a cartoon if he couldn’t calm Nina down. Cartoons were the only thing that could keep her settled for a while.
Tanner turned on the cartoon as suggested, then kept holding the plate and feeding Nina bite by bite.
He served her a huge portion of food.
He’d seen Nina’s appetite at the Wilson Villa before; she could easily finish a full plate on her own.
Once he finally got her to eat everything, Tanner let out a long sigh of relief.
He smiled, “Alright, Nina, we can head home now.”
Tanner had no desire to eat anything himself-he wasn’t hungry at all at that point.
Nina had grown tired of her French fries halfway through the meal.
She’d kept shoving fry after fry into Tanner’s mouth instead.

Before he knew it, Tanner had eaten quite a few of her fries.

“Un-coo Tanner, home?” Nina tilted her chubby little face up at the mention of leaving, clearly not ready to head back yet.
Tanner hummed in reply. He grabbed a napkin, wiped her small hands and face clean, then dabbed away the ketchup smudges on her clothes.
He didn’t bother changing her outfit-there were no clean clothes left for her to put on anyway.
“Benjamin and Amelia miss you so much.” Tanner asked gently, “Do you miss them, too?”
Nina nodded firmly. “Yeah. Miss Mommy.”
Tanner went along with her words. “Then let’s go find Mommy right now.”
Nina shook her head at once. “No.”
Missing Amelia and actually going to find her were two totally different things to Nina.
She wrapped her chubby arms around Tanner’s neck, her voice sweet and clingy. “Un-coo Tanner, catch fish?”
Tanner let out a helpless breath. “No fish catching today.”
He held Nina securely in one arm, grabbed his bag with the other, and stood up to leave right away.
Carried off against her will, Nina kept mumbling against his neck, “Un-coo Tanner. Un-coo Tanner.”
She rambled on, begging to go catch fish one minute and run outside to play the next.
As she chattered away, she reached up with her chubby hand and stroked Tanner’s cheek.
Tanner was completely powerless against her.
The two walked out of the dining area. Shortly after they left, Krystal-who was still lingering in the restaurant-slipped into the seat Tanner had just vacated.
She reached out and picked up the fork Tanner had used earlier.
A server walked over to clear the table, looking utterly confused to see her sitting there.
“Ma’am, this table has already settled the bill. You…” The server stared at Krystal, totally puzzled by her behavior.
Krystal lifted her head and offered a smile. “I know that. I’m his girlfriend. We had a little falling-out just now. He left already, so I just want to sit here for a bit.
“I had my meal right here, too, actually. He paid for my bill as well.”
Krystal claimed to be Tanner’s girlfriend, and another server had indeed seen her talking to him earlier and knew Tanner had covered her check.
