Jackie smiled. “I’m here to get Ann settled in.”
Celia and her friends exchanged glances.
“Are you saying… Ann is living here now?” Celia asked tentatively.
Jackie gave a firm nod. “Ann just moved out of the Harvest estate and she’s a bit down. You’re her friends, so you should go up and console her. Help her see things more clearly.”
Taking the opportunity, Jackie gave Celia and the others Ann’s apartment number before getting in her car and driving away.
Inside the apartment, Ann stared at the bedroom, which looked like a rat’s nest, and screamed, clutching her hair.
She had finally made it into a top-tier family like the Harvests, only to be kicked out before she could even find her footing.
She was a Harvest, damn it. She’d even given that old crone one of her kidneys. How could they do this to her?
The old hag had sworn she would protect her as long as she was alive, but the moment the online mob turned on her and her mother, she had let the main branch of the family throw them out.
That damned old woman.
Ann cursed her, grinding her teeth in hatred.
They couldn't think they could get rid of her that easily.
Thinking of that bitch Claudia, an idea sparked in Ann’s mind.
She washed her face, reapplied her makeup, and was about to head out to find Gideon when she found Celia and her friends at her door.
Celia and the others walked in with smiles. “Ann, you moved and didn’t even say a word in the group chat. We wanted to come and congratulate you.”
Ann nervously tried to push them out. “Get out. All of you, get out.”
Celia and her friends laughed delightedly. “Ann, you’re the esteemed daughter of the Harvest family. How can you live in a place like this?”
One girl pinched her nose in disgust. “Oh my god, this place is worse than a public restroom. Is this really where Ann lives?”
Another girl couldn’t help but jeer, “It can’t be. This place is worse than our dog’s kennel. How could the great Miss Harvest live in a room like this?”
“I have to post this on my social media and let everyone see the kind of room the Harvest family’s daughter lives in.”
For now, the most urgent task was to get the James family to publicly clarify her and Selene's identities and clear her name.
No matter what, she had to find a way back to the Harvest family as soon as possible.
Half of everything the Harvest family owned was hers. She wouldn't let it go, not even in death.
—
Late that night, at The Imperial Club.
York was chatting with Peter and a few other friends in a private room.
Mark hurried in, leaned down, and whispered in York’s ear, “Mr. Ferguson, Ann was kicked out of the Harvest estate. She’s on her way to the James family’s home now.”
York swirled the wine in his glass, his expression unchanged. “Is everything I asked for ready?”
Mark replied, “Everything is ready.”
