No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 711

Thud!

The heavy sound echoed as the phone dropped in front of the matriarch.

No matter how much the matriarch struggled, Selene held her down firmly, muffling her mouth to keep her from making a sound.

Just then, the sound of footsteps approached from outside the door.

Selene shot Ann a sharp look.

Ann scrambled to pick up the phone, turned it off, then switched off the lights. She pulled out a dagger they had prepared beforehand and pressed it against the matriarch’s neck.

“If you dare let them in, I'll kill you!” Ann threatened.

“Matriarch, are you alright?” a voice called from outside.

The cold steel of the blade against her neck was a stark reminder of her predicament. “It’s nothing,” she called back. “I’m just resting.”

After the person outside left, the room fell silent for a long moment.

By the moonlight filtering in, Ann greedily turned the matriarch's phone back on, intent on transferring more money.

“Ann,” the matriarch said, trying to reason with them. “For the sake of my youngest son, whose only child you bore, you can have the money in the phone. Whether you can get out of here alive is up to fate.”

Ann glared at her viciously. “Shut up, you old bitch!”

The matriarch looked at the mother-daughter pair, who seemed like a pair of vipers, and suddenly had a change of heart.

People like this were a menace wherever they went.

She couldn’t just let them go.

The longer they stayed, the more uneasy Selene felt.

“Ann, that’s enough,” she urged. “If we don’t go now, it’ll be too late!”

Ann shoved the matriarch's phone into her pocket. “Let’s go, Mom!”

She’d already disabled the lock screen. Once they were somewhere safe, she would drain every last cent from the old woman’s account.

Ann saw that the main entrance was no longer an option.

She glanced at the low window, then turned to Selene, her voice a desperate plea. “Mom, the main entrance is probably blocked. Only one of us can get out. You have to take the fall for this. Just say you killed her, okay?”

Selene couldn't believe that her own daughter would abandon her at such a critical moment.

Her eyes red with disbelief, she shook her head fiercely. “Ann, I’m your mother!”

Ann’s expression hardened. “So what if you’re my mother?” she spat. “You have no family connections, no skills. Why did you even bring me into this world?”

She grabbed Selene’s collar like a madwoman. “Did you ask me before you gave birth to me?”

Ann’s voice was laced with venom. “Selene, you owe me this!”

Selene grabbed Ann, refusing to let her go. “You ungrateful wretch! Even after Hamlin beat me black and blue, I was still thinking of you! Why else do you think I’d be here?”

She tightened her grip on Ann's arm. “If we're going, we go together. Otherwise, neither of us is leaving!”
