Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 844

Sebastian watched the girl’s retreating figure with an indulgent smile, his lips curving into a soft arc of pure affection.

Louis looked at the two of them, a sense of gratification in his voice. "Only one more year, and you’ll finally be able to marry Miss Lillian."

The man’s voice dropped to a low, resonant hum. "One more year... and yet, I find I am already losing my patience."

The day after returning to Kingston, Lillian went straight to the office.

Karina walked into the room and, seeing the girl already seated behind the desk, teased her with a grin. "Well, look at you. Finally realized you’ve been an absentee boss for too long and decided to put in some work?"

Lillian picked up the mountain of paperwork on her desk and laughed. "I’ve been an absentee boss since day one. If it weren't for your phone call, I probably could have kept the streak going a while longer."

Karina took the seat opposite her, studying her friend’s face. "You look like you’re in a good headspace. I came in here ready to offer some comfort, but it looks like I won't be needing to. Wyvern Hill really is a magical place."

Lillian gave her a playful glare. "Enough of that. I know you’re just trying to cheer me up. Don't worry, I’m okay."

"That’s good to hear," Karina nodded. She knew exactly what Leonard meant to Lillian. He wasn't just a teacher; he was the person she relied on most in this world, her ultimate confidant. When she first heard about what happened to him, she had been sick with worry, but it seemed the girl had managed to find her footing again.

Lillian began scanning the documents. "Is everything ready for the groundbreaking ceremony next week?"

"So they’ve already tried to go through you once," Karina said, surprised.

Lillian nodded. "Exactly. Which makes me very curious—why is the Soren family so obsessed with getting that land back? If they wanted it, why put it up for public auction in the first place? It seems like a massive waste of effort."

Karina looked skeptical. "You don't think there’s something buried under that ground, do you?"

Lillian rolled her eyes. "Have you been reading too many fantasy novels lately? Your imagination is running wild. It’s just a normal piece of real estate; what could possibly be hidden there? Honestly, Karina."

"You never know," Karina countered. "There has to be a reason the Sorens are so desperate. People don't act like that without a motive."
