Lillian was equally perplexed. "If there is anything truly remarkable about that land, it is the location. It’s set to become the heart of Kingston’s new economic development zone. Other than that..."
She trailed off, her brow furrowing. She felt a nagging sensation that she was forgetting something crucial, but the memory remained just out of reach.
"Do you think the Soren family realized the true potential of the area?" Karina mused. "If it really becomes the new hub of the city, that land will be worth a fortune. They might just be regretting the sale."
Lillian shook her head. "I’m not sure. Regardless, let them dig. The land is in our hands now. I doubt they can simply seize it by force if we refuse to sell."
"I suppose you're right," Karina agreed. "But have you considered going public with your identity? If the Sorens keep digging, they’re bound to find out who you are eventually. It might be better to control the narrative ourselves rather than letting them expose us and play games behind our backs."
Lillian went quiet. She was already operating in a semi-public capacity; many within the company had their theories about her true role. If anyone conducted a truly thorough investigation, her connection to Skyreach would be uncovered soon enough.
"I’ll give it some serious thought," Lillian said. "You have a point. Everyone knows the Chairman of Skyreach carries the surname Harrington. In all of Dracovia, that name is unique to my master’s lineage. Since many people in the industry are already familiar with me, a dedicated search would connect the dots quite easily."
Meanwhile, at Empire Group.
In the Chairman’s office, Sebastian sat behind his desk, his handsome features devoid of expression. His focus was fixed on the data streaming across his screen, his long fingers moving across the keyboard with rhythmic precision.
A few high-level executives stood before him, looking noticeably tense as they finished their reports.
A knock sounded at the door.
Unno nodded. "Yes. Since the Mildew family lost their majority stake and Arlo remains bedridden, they’ve lost their direction entirely. The two remaining Mildew sons sold their shares to Callen. Now, the family is simply living off what’s left of their dwindling assets."
A flicker of mockery appeared in Sebastian’s dark eyes. "With those two playboys running things, it won't be long before the Mildew coffers are empty. We won't even need to lift a finger. Did you return the captives?"
"As per your orders, the Mildew family members have been sent back," Unno replied. "Given the current state of their affairs, I imagine the household is quite chaotic right now."
"That’s enough then," Sebastian said with a chilling smile. "My only goal was to ensure the Mildew family could never rise again."
Unno hesitated, looking at his employer. "However, the Stint family is now the undisputed power in Radovia. Are you concerned about that? After all, Renee is still a lady of the Stint house."
