Rewrite Her Thrilling Life (Lillian and Sebastian) novel Chapter 863

Merrick nodded. "Aside from a tactical retreat, I can’t think of a single reason why he would allow such news to exist. Especially since he knows perfectly well that the Cary family is behind this. The situation must be severe enough that he’s forced into a temporary compromise."

"Grandfather, what should we do?" Eric asked anxiously. "Should we send our people over to assist him?"

Merrick’s eyes grew sharp. "Not yet. If he’s allowing these rumors to spread, it means he already has a plan in motion. We shouldn't interfere blindly. Tell our contacts in Murica to keep a close watch, but stay on the sidelines for now."

Eric frowned, his concern deepening. "I understand. But Grandfather, what if he actually agrees to the alliance with the Cary estate? What happens to Lilian?"

Merrick let out a cold laugh. "Don't worry. If he actually abandons Lilian over something like this, it only proves he was never worthy of her in the first place. If it comes to that, we’ll simply take Lilian away, and he’ll never find her again."

Eric looked at Merrick’s devious smile and shook his head helplessly. "Fine. We’ll do it your way for now. But should we tell Lilian? She deserves to be prepared."

Merrick pondered this for a moment. "Let’s wait. If Sebastian resolves the issue, he can explain it to her himself when he returns. If things truly take a turn for the worse, it won't be too late to tell her then. Given Lilian’s temperament, the moment she finds out, she’ll fly across the ocean to stand by his side. If she disrupts Sebastian’s plan, it might make everything even more complicated. For now, it’s best she remains in the dark."

"I hope you're right," Eric said with a nod. "I’m just worried that if she finds out through another channel, she’ll resent us for keeping her in the dark."

Merrick sighed deeply. "We hide it for as long as we can. If we truly can't keep it a secret anymore, I’ll tell her myself. Lilian is a sensible girl; she’ll understand our intentions. My only wish is for her to find out as late as possible. I don't want her putting herself in danger."

"I understand," Eric replied quietly.

The realization finally dawned on Isabelle. "Oh! Right! How could I forget something that important? I’ve spent too much time looking through microscopes lately; I must have left my common sense in the lab."

Lilian rolled her eyes playfully. "Well, keep your common sense in the lab if you want, but I’m going to go watch the show. I have a feeling this will be the most spectacular event at Capital University this semester." With that, she headed toward the cafeteria.

Isabelle scrambled to catch up. "Hey, wait for me! You can't leave me out of the good stuff!"

The two of them hurried after the couple.
