When they arrived at the cafeteria, every seat was occupied. All eyes were glued to Cameron and Elsie, who had stopped right in front of a table where Emily and her two lackeys were sitting.
"Cameron, what are you doing here?" Emily asked, her expression tight and unnatural.
Cameron looked down at her with pure disdain. "What do you think I'm doing here? I want to know exactly what those forum posts about Elsie are all about. Since when did she steal someone’s boyfriend? As her boyfriend, I’m curious why I’m the last to know about this 'affair.'"
He never expected that while he was away, someone would have the audacity to spread such malicious rumors behind his back. Calling Elsie a homewrecker was effectively accusing him of cheating.
It was absolutely intolerable. What angered him even more was that Emily was the culprit. She knew perfectly well that he and her cousin had broken up ages ago, so what was her game in posting that thread now?
Emily stood up, looking at Cameron with a facade of wide-eyed innocence. "Cameron, what are you talking about? I don't know anything about a post. I didn't send anything. Don't listen to Elsie’s lies; she’s always had it out for me. She’s clearly trying to frame me to turn you against me. Cameron, you have to believe me. We’ve known each other for a long time, haven't we?"
"Enough!" Cameron roared. "My breakup with Ivy had absolutely nothing to do with Elsie. We split because our personalities didn't click. What is your goal in spreading these fabrications? Are you trying to cause a rift between Elsie and me? What are you actually trying to achieve?"
Emily looked at Cameron with tearful, aggrieved eyes. "I’m not lying! I’m telling the truth! What do you mean it had nothing to do with her? What 'personality' issues? She seduced you, and that’s why you left my cousin. Don't use these dignified excuses to protect her. She’s a man-stealer, plain and simple!"
