The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 107

Willow Creek Estates, the name of the apartment complex where Victoria was renting.

Elias paused. He now remembered that he'd had quite a bit of red wine on an empty stomach tonight. The alcohol had hit him after he got in the car, and his temples were pounding. He'd been feeling dizzy, so when the driver asked where to go, he had given the address for Willow Creek Estates on pure instinct.

Just then, his phone rang.

It was Hawk.

"Mr. Shawn, Miss Vale has gone home."

"Good. If there's nothing else, you can head home for the night." Elias was about to hang up. Maybe the alcohol hadn’t worn off yet, because his eyes burned with fatigue. He curled his index finger and pressed his knuckle to his temple, trying to relieve the pressure.

Hawk hesitated, thinking about a report he'd just received from one of his men. "Mr. Shawn, there is one more thing, regarding Miss Vale."

"What is it?"

"While we were contacting the media outlets to have tonight's photos of you and Miss Vale removed, we discovered that Miss Vale was the one who arranged for them to be pushed to the top of the news feeds."

When Hawk had first seen the trending photos, he had found it odd. Miss Vale had invited Mr. Shawn to the restaurant on short notice for her birthday. The paparazzi shouldn't have known their location so quickly, and the photos were too perfectly framed, capturing them clearly.

But if they had known the location in advance and were waiting, it would all make sense.

Still…

"Mr. Shawn, since Miss Vale arranged it, should we still send a legal notice to those media outlets?" The moment the photos went viral, Elias had ordered him to have them taken down and to sue the paparazzi outlet that first published them for invasion of privacy.

Hawk had been surprised by the order.

Elias had never cared about these kinds of speculative photos before.

Besides, everyone already assumed Genevieve would become Mrs. Shawn sooner or later. Publishing these photos wouldn't negatively affect The Shawn Group. On the contrary, with Genevieve being a rising star in architectural design, being seen with Elias would only be perceived as a power couple union, which would help stabilize The Shawn Group's corporate image and boost its stock price.

And yet, Elias's face had darkened the moment he saw the photos, and he had left before Genevieve even returned from the restroom.

Elias was silent for a few seconds before replying coldly, "No. Just have them destroy the photos and warn all media outlets to keep their people in line. I don't want to see any more rumors about me."

"Understood."

After ending the call, Elias's lips tightened into a straight line, his thoughts unreadable. After a long moment, he turned to look out the window again.

The buildings in Willow Creek Estates were set far apart from one another. From his angle, he could clearly see a nearby building. His gaze slowly traveled up from the ground floor, finally stopping at a balcony on the twelfth floor.
