Victoria stood there for a long time, absorbing the outcome.
Tammie's refusal was, in fact, what she had expected.
Grady knew that securing a partnership with him would be incredibly difficult, which was why he had told her on the phone yesterday, "Just do your best. It doesn't matter what the result is."
But she knew what this partnership meant to Grady and to The Sanger Group. To be handed a 'death sentence' like this left her feeling a little resentful.
Suddenly, something on the floor caught her eye.
It was a blueprint.
It must have accidentally fallen from Tammie's assistant's folder.
She bent down to pick it up. It was an architectural drawing, which naturally made her look a little closer.
But that closer look made Victoria's brow furrow in concern.
There was a problem with this design…
Her eyes darkened, and she immediately ran in the direction Tammie had gone.
She chased him all the way to the venue's exit but couldn't find him. Instead, she saw Elias descending the steps from another exit.
Victoria pressed her lips together, looking down at the blueprint in her hand, her mind racing.
Seeing that Elias was about to get into his car, she threw caution to the wind and walked toward him.
Hawk opened the rear door for Elias. Noticing Victoria out of the corner of his eye, he alerted him, "Mr. Shawn, it's Miss Sanger."
Elias lifted his gaze and glanced at the elegant figure jogging toward them in high heels. His expression was deep and unreadable.
"…Close the door. We're going to the airport."
Hawk was slightly surprised. He had assumed that after Mr. Shawn bought the carving and the 'Starfall' earrings for Victoria at such high prices, their relationship had softened.
Apparently, his boss's heart was as unpredictable as the sea.
"Yes, sir," he said, closing the car door.
"Wait, E—"
Just as Victoria reached the car, the low-key but luxurious Maybach started to move, driving right past her.
Just like before.
The memory of being heartlessly abandoned on the mountainside after the family dinner three months ago flooded back, threatening to drown her.
A sharp pain from her right earlobe suddenly pulled her out of the emotional deluge.
The next moment, she kicked off her high heels and started running after the departing Maybach.
Inside the car.
Elias sat with his eyes closed, his brow tightly furrowed. The atmosphere in the car was thick with a strange silence.
Just as the car was about to turn left onto the main road, Elias opened his eyes. In the rearview mirror, a running figure suddenly came into view.
