The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 126

At the thought, Victoria felt a sharp prick in her heart.

It wasn't agonizing, but it was impossible to ignore.

She gathered her thoughts and calmly pulled her hand away.

The warmth in his palm suddenly vanished. Elias's dark eyes narrowed, a feeling of emptiness creeping into his chest, making his already frayed temper even worse.

This new wave of irritation didn't last long, however, as his phone started to ring.

He glanced at the caller ID, a slight pause in his expression as he seemed to consider whether to answer.

They were standing too close.

A casual glance from the corner of her eye was all it took for Victoria to see the name flashing on his screen: Genevieve.

"The auction should be ending soon. This is the women's restroom, so people will be coming in. It wouldn't look good if you were seen here," Victoria said evenly. "Let's go."

Without waiting for Elias to reply, she turned and walked around him, heading for the door.

Elias watched her back.

He didn't know when it started, but now, whenever they parted, she no longer habitually waited for him or glanced back with reluctance.

The phone continued to ring, its sound echoing clearly in the empty restroom.

A moment later, Elias swiped his finger across the screen and answered.

"…Gen."

Just as Victoria had guessed, the auction was drawing to a close.

She stood at the entrance to the hall, the voices of the auctioneer and guests drifting out to her.

Victoria raised a hand to touch the pink diamond on her earlobe. After a moment's thought, she removed the pin holding her hair in place.

Instantly, her waist-length hair cascaded down like a waterfall.

Everyone in the hall had seen Elias buy 'Starfall' for six hundred million dollars. If they saw her wearing them now, it would undoubtedly cause a stir and fuel speculation.

She and Elias would be officially divorced soon.

It was better if as few people as possible knew about their relationship.

With that in mind, Victoria smoothed her hair, making sure it covered her ears before she walked back inside.

Ten minutes later.

The auctioneer's gavel fell, marking the end of the final item.

Mayor Felix and Tammie went on stage together to give their closing remarks.

Even after they finished and the guests began to disperse, Elias had not returned.
