The Abandoned Wife Dumped Him First (Victoria and Elias) novel Chapter 13

In the study of the Shawn Estate, Elias looked at his grandfather seated on the sofa, cane in hand, and spoke gravely. "Grandfather."

Old Mr. Shawn let out a cold snort. "Chuck, go to the door and see if Victoria has arrived yet."

Chuck nodded and left the study.

Hearing that Old Mr. Shawn had also summoned Victoria, Elias's sharp brows knitted together. A flicker of disgust crossed his eyes, and his tone became laced with impatience.

"Grandfather, is there something urgent you needed to see me about?"

"What? Do I need a reason to call you back home? Are you so busy now that you have a problem with making a single trip back?" Old Mr. Shawn's voice was deep and heavy with displeasure.

Elias's temple throbbed. "That's not what I meant."

"Not what you meant?"

Old Mr. Shawn's face hardened. He snatched a document from the table and threw it at Elias, demanding, "Then explain to me what this is!"

The few thin sheets of paper scattered as they fell.

One landed right in front of Elias on the floor, the words "Divorce Agreement" printed clearly at the top.

Elias's dark eyes instantly darkened, his voice turning cold. "Victoria told you?"

He had only just instructed Hawk to send that agreement to Victoria this afternoon.

She couldn't wait to run and tattle.

So much for a divorce. Just as he'd expected, another one of her games.

"What? From the sound of it, if I hadn't found out, you would have hidden this from me? Were you planning to act first and tell me later?"

Elias didn't deny it. That was precisely what he had in mind.

Seeing him tacitly admit it, Old Mr. Shawn was furious, his chest heaving. "You will explain yourself to me right now!"

"It's just as you see, Grandfather. There's nothing to explain," Elias said, his expression flat as he averted his gaze from the divorce papers.

"You! You!" Old Mr. Shawn's face turned ashen. He pushed himself up with his cane and roared, "Kneel!"

Elias didn't move.

Old Mr. Shawn shot him a fierce look. "Are you not listening to me, or do my words mean nothing to you now?!"

Elias's jaw tensed, his eyes dangerously cold, but he didn't prolong the standoff with the old man. With his back straight, he bent his knees and knelt.

However, this did little to quell Old Mr. Shawn's rage.

Looking at the divorce papers scattered on the floor, he was fuming, his breathing growing heavy.

"I don't care what you're thinking. I do not agree, so you can forget about this divorce! When Victoria gets here, you will speak to her properly and retract this agreement!"
